Do you remember the fear and loathing that greeted his first post? The most visceral horror and instinctive hate
clive barker among his creations, pictured moments before they took him to new heights of agony and ecstasy, leaving his physical form so ruined all he could do was write 800page novels

I was wondering about how bars are in NYC cos today, after about five minutes in Cosmos, one of Suspender's (really, particularly nice - so much so I feel it has to be stated for the record) friends said "There are no places like this in NY" which really amazed me, even as an exaggeration, cos although it is a very cool place, I just wouldn't have thought of Cosmos as in any way unique.I'm sure I would. it's so sad that places like that are so rare nowadays. NYC largely sucks, some business techno/house clubs and then a few small DIY places that last a couple of months. no regular place for weird electronic stuff.
Im interested in this too. What's cosmos like?I was wondering about how bars are in NYC cos today, after about five minutes in Cosmos, one of Suspender's (really, particularly nice - so much so I feel it has to be stated for the record) friends said "There are no places like this in NY" which really amazed me, even as an exaggeration, cos although it is a very cool place, I just wouldn't have thought of Cosmos as in any way unique.
Perhaps he was just being overly polite, I guess that's what nice people do, or at least so I've heard.
It's an old gymnasium. And part of it still is, you have one boxing room on that floor in which people can train i think. From their Instagram it looks like a house someone turned into a bar with little remodelling which is uncommon. Is this more common in Europe?
that all sounds alot like diy spots over here- the reclaimed building, the multipurpose rooms, the 'association' aspect- but they dont last very long. this is more common over there? It's an old gymnasium. Cosmos is a few rooms attached to that; a bar, a room with a couple of pool tables, and the one with the turntables - oh and now they have a new room which will be for art installations. I guess these rooms were once other bits of the gym - including its bar - certainly it is decorated with photos of ancient sports teams.
It's a pleasant place to be, I'd describe the style and colours⁶ as shabby cosy chic or something and it's fine for a bar. As a gym it would have probably just been a depressing reminder that it was old and the equipment out of date. So yeah, it's s nice but there are thousands of places like it I would have thought.
More importantly, the way it's run is also good, firstly it has the status of an association not a company which is something I don't fully understand but a number of the more interesting places in town are the same - Desterro and ZDB - which I think means it's not run for profit and the punters are supposed to be members and it allows them some leeway with rules.
And the people who run it are cool. They have an idea of what the want to do and they do genuinely and consistently seem to our their ideals above profit.
