Does a distinctive production style count as a sonic signature?

I have Todd Edwards in mind, see.

I reckon it would have to be something a bit more specific than a general style to count - would think of it more in terms of a very particular sound or sound that a producer uses on all/most of their tracks. That's what I was getting at when I mentioned the 'Apple synth' sound, though I'm sure there are much better examples.

James Brown, surely? I gotcha etc

And Peter Rock's end of line "wooooh" or "damn right" when he wasn't even rapping. Cool.

Ozzy Osborne: "All RIGHT now!" and "Oh Lord, yeah!".

Joy Division: real drums that sound like a really cheap, primitive drum machine.

Interpol: a slightly-above-averagely-interesting-not-that-that's-saying-much indie band who clearly wish they were Joy Division.

Joy Division: Band that should've sacked the singer before he went and killed himself to begin with.

Remember hearing "Transmission" and my face just convoluting
