This is simultaneously a book from my childhood that haunts me and also one of my favourites of all time...
The Amar Chitra Katha comic of 'Karna'. Its a story from the Mahabharata.
Weird 70s cover that I guess is a bit Bollywoodised, but it's better than the current one. My original copy had no cover.
This is another where I recently rebought it (quite pricey too, for a very flimsy comic) but in this case cos the original fell apart.
I don't keep many books precious but this one I do keep wrapped in plastic.
The art is amazing, here's a couple panels I love:
That shift from peaceful blue sky to piercing red, to up the drama.
No idea who the artist was, ACK was a DC/Marvel type operation with various artists doing piece work I think, with only the editor, Anamt Pai, being credited. Some of the titles are a bit ropey, I've got loads of them.
Here's another astounding panel: Beeshma on his bed of arrows. It gets a full page. I love the expressionism of the arrows
