o thats interesting. you must be thrilled. i wuld be. a lot of the time when i make people listen to lil b stuff they tell me who the beat is by. he must make some stuff himself but clearly a lot less than i had originally assumed.

i've never posted here before but i thought i'd like to clear some things up - if a track is labeled as a "based freestyle", such as running through the flowers up thread, it's some random mp3 lil b found on the internet. his proper tracks, such as the stuff on the mixtapes i'm thraxx and 6 kiss, are produced by various myspace weirdos, clams casino and keyboard kid being the most frequent it seems. the ambient spoken word stuff, like rain in england, is produced by lil b himself.

Been listening to ''I'm God'' a lot this week, really love it. ''Tell the trees that I'm the best out!''

This video was posted up on here by someone in another thread:

and I completely forgot it's the same guy. Bizarre, really - he sounds pretty trad/nas-influenced on this. Good tune though.

On this hip-hop forum I used to go on there's quite a few threads about him - a good 80% of the people on there seem to absolutely hate him though. Those who like him are divided between people who just say ''I like him. I like such and such a tune..." and "Worship the based lord!'' etc. Since the latter group seem to be his real fans, I am quite confused as to whether or not his entire persona/musical output is supposed to be some elaborate ironic joke or not. Anyway, ''I'm God'' is great.

as someone mentioned, cocaine blunts talks about him a lot, this is the latest article: http://www.cocaineblunts.com/blunts/?p=6368

Not buggin or anything but both of the quotes picked from the song are lines from MC Crispy?

That track is his AZ tribute - that's one of the thigns that makes him interesting - seeing hip hop though the mind of a young guy/fan and seeing that incorporated in his music making. I am not surprsied the "keep it real" hip hop headz hate him, they are the most conservative bunch in music history. Shame, given the eclectism the music is based on.

A lot of them are also homophobic and hate tight jeans. To be fair, I think most people know Lil B for tunes like 'Pretty Bitch' or any of the other ones where he just goes 'bitch suck my dick, my dick is sick' etc. so they just hate him for being stupid/childish ala. Soulja Boy.

this is him when he bothers to rap, pretty incredible song. a lot of his tracks are just taken from people i've never heard of, like m83... i could find out who they are, but i dont care enough.

I love this one so much. Anyone know who produced the beat?

Really like this. Weird, raw, completely unpolished.

Listening to ''I'm God'' yesterday, it seems almost like a manifesto of creative freedom - the freedom to be serious or completely ironic/comic, the freedom to rap in a technically focused way or in an unfocused, subconsciously driven and often quite crude or unpalatable way, the freedom to keep it real or unreal. What's most important is the relentless and obsessive creative drive, a degree of self-obsession and egomania that chimes in with his status as something of an internet avatar (Noz's article on Lil B has changed the way I view him in relation to the internet http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2011/01/27/133245953/lil-b-understanding-raps-new-rebel ) - the way that language/image can be used to make oneself a ''God'' (or a ''pretty bitch''). This seems to be a thing with Tyler/oddfuture too ("I'm a fucking walking paradox, no I'm not!'' and ''I'm a Fucking Table/Lamp/Oven'' on Twitter), also very internet intertwined. It also seems to be a generational divide thing - a rebellion against rap orthodoxy, the 'keep it real' schools of both old-skool-venerating purists and street-rep-venerating thug rappers/fans. The beats they both pick/make are also reflective of this - there's a mixture of hip-hop influences and an 'anything goes' attitude (the weird organ notes you get in Tyler beats, for example).

I don't know if any of this stuff translates to an appreciation of the music, or the quality of the music for that matter.

people keep telling me that Tyler the creator is a better version of Lil B but I find him boring and too 'intelligent' with little flow
