Great call on 2001 - shits all over the Chronic as a whole, including in terms of production. Not sure if that is conventional wisdom or not tbh. And Kuedo - one of the best albums in many a year.

I've never been an evangelist for the Clash or punk in general, but London Calling is superb. Killer song after killer song; one of the most consistent doubles I can think of.

Ha, that's great! Thank you. I love the Sylvester sleeve, and those Sister Sledge and Thin Lizzy albums are both fantastic.

Getting involved in this one at paolo's request.
Obviously a very tricky question to answer but boringly enough my top 3 most likely candidates would be albums that show up on these sort of list all the time. So -
Love - Forever Changes
The Band - self-titled
Television - Marquee Moon
(now playing Forever Changes for about the 3 billionth time ever :D ).

I can safely say I've never heard the vast, vast majority of these albums. I would've thought Michael Jackson's Thriller would be a safe top ten spot for anyone aged 25-40, i.e. what I imagine to be the Dissensus demographic.

Listen to this 1982 Larry Levan set and re-appraise your thoughts on The Clash and other 'big' artists

Browsing the thread and seeing Funhouse by the Stooges come up a few times - that one's right up there for me too, I think if it was specifically a question of 'favourite rock album ever' I would put it at the top.

I'd put Copper Blue or Beaster right up there. Not too familiar with 'Workbook', though I've had a copy for ages, will check it out

I'm a massive Husker Du and Sugar fan but I've never been able to get into solo bob. Maybe this will inspire me to give it another try. Anyway, I feel your pain - I'm a big Warehouse lover, which tends to get me laughed at by indie rock snobs.

Is it bad that I like Raw Power the best? I would have to say it's pretty much the definitive hard rock album. I mean it's just so GRRRR in a way that so many other bands have attempted, but never quite as convincingly.
