The Dissensus Jungle Poll Is Now Open

I sympathise with FF cos I've got that obsessive compulsive urge to go through every single jungle release in 1993/4/5 in order to make the perfect list. It's just that in this case I have decided I'm too lazy to do this.

firefinga, these lists are very interesting and are obviously a labour of love, but are you actually going to submit a ballot? if not, what's the point?

I would have made a ballot If I had started earlier.

Sadmanbarty wrote people can also write lists to jog people's memories and I thought my lists might help there.

Nah I don't wanna make a perfect list. I omitted lots of tracks which went into my original lists but weren't good enough for my actual "best of each month"-choices.

It's amazing just how much great stuff this scene was able to put out in it's prime.

are there some cd compilations that do a good job in collecting this cool stuff? omni trio "deepest cut" (titled "music for the next millennium" in the states) is a good one, also suburban bass "base in your face" and sub bass "a history of hardcore" part 1 and 2.

any others come to mind?

Woebot of all people did a blog post on that very topic a few months ago:

I think you could get the CD version of most of these via discogs relatively cheap.
I have a few of the listed, the best one for my taste is "Darkside II" - really all killers if you are into the "Darkcore/Darkness"sound

Tight but Polite
In contrast to some of the exhaustive research that's been going on, I cued thirty odd tunes on youtube and then sorted them roughly in order of how much they made me jump around the living room. No liability accepted or apologies offered for stone cold classics that I've missed or obvious cheesy stuff that I've rated.

Remarc - Thunderclap
4 Hero - Journey from the Light
Dead Dread - Dread Bass
Dillinja - The Angels Fell
Remarc - RIP
Studio Pressure - Jump Mk II
Ray Keith + Renegade - Terrorist
DJ Hype - Illegal Gunshot (Gunshot Mix)

Ed Rush - Gansta Hardstep
Johnny Jungle - Killa Sound (Krome + Time remix)

Probably don't have time to get my ballot in today, but to be honest I would probably only muddy the waters with my lack of expertise. If I don't manage to do it on time I'll post my top 50 here, an occasion for baited breath on the part of you all, I'm sure.

I'd love to see the top 50 jungle tunes ever in the opinion of, say, Randall, or Goldie.

D&B is always about new dubs over all else though isnt it? even that new philly blunt comp, it has a lot of jungle classics... remixed for today lol. which is good in a sense, at least it hasnt lapsed into broad retroisms, keeps it moving forward, etc, etc, but idk if goldie or anyone else whos been in it 20 years could really make a fair minded, objective list, without seeing it through current tastes/needs.

dummy did some other ones -

om unit - best jungle tracks
