Brubaker is a prison film that I haven't watched. The name sounds like some American gangster of legend. It's a 'rude boy' track anyway. Tremolo or wobble on the lead, with a deadly sub underneath. I'm bound to post some tracks from the Ifach label of Baby Ford and also some Mark Broom productions. This track is just too rude not to post. A proper soundsystem banger.

I said I wasn't going to post anthems, or too many Luke Slater tracks, but this one holds such fond memories for me. It's a euphoric track but with one of the best dancefloor basslines ever.

24) Born Under A Rhyming Planet - Digital Hell

Although I love the other side, Analogue Heaven, this is from a time when Plus 8 and Richie Hawtin were experimenting and taking the music to new heights. Really a top record on Plus 8.

I adore his follow up record, which is the only "electronic jazz" I could ever get on with

you are posting all my favorites in such a way that I'll should refrain from doing my own thread. The opposite site of this record is ace as well, some rad psychic drum/bassline programming here:

25) Babies from Going - Groove Control

Here's a slow builder with a nice reverbed drum loop. Colin Dale used to play tracks from this record from what I can tell, and this is my favourite track on the EP.

But saying that it seems Mark Bell of LFO also did some slick sounding tracks for the Planet E label. This track made Facts Top 20 UK techno records.

28) Concept 1 - Side A

More Richie Hawtin I'm afraid. Though I shouldn't be as this Concept 1 LP is about as underground and dirty as techno gets for me. Legend has it he tried to cross the border to the US and something happened with his visa, so when he was exiled in Canada he came up with this. And it's amazing to think he did it with what must have been a pretty sick hardware setup to me, instead of the D16 plugins I use.

The best. Ifach was inexplicable.

16) Eddie 'Flashin' Fowlkes - Warwick

Bit of a diversion back to an old school Detroit favourite. I love the town and county of Warwickshire. Though I'm fairly certain this is going to be pronounced War-Wick as in Dionne. Strings and bleeps combine to give an up beat feel worthy of the civic pride nice place like Warwick or even Detroit can induce.

Eddie is so underrated, on one hand probably one of the purist detroit techno culture exponents, (no hardcore and jungle sir) on the other hand all his tracks have this really mischievous utopianism of soul that you have to look to Zapp for in terms of parallels. Weirdly seductive.

19) Neil Landstrumm - Field Preaching

I could fill the list with Peacefrog tracks quite easily, but this is one of the more off kilter and bleepy offerings from Neil Landstrumm.

Superb, that whole release is one of my all time favourites, reminds me of Ronnie Foster and post-bop influenced driving jazz funk/fusion, before it got mainstream and sickly sweet.

20) Dave Angel - Timeless

There's a saying that Dave Angel is about as nice as Techno gets. This track... is it techno, is it house, it broken beat? Whatever it is goes down nice with the 8.6% beer I've got on tap at home. Always wanted a synth with Chord Memory if I'm hearing it right.

Yes. he's the bext exponent of good vibes liquid cyborg soul. Funny thing though is some of his dj sets from the 92-93 era were some of the darkest teutonic/bennelux influenced acid barnstormers ever.

This ones brilliant. I'm sure I've heard it before. Feels like a room 2 sort of thing.

This one is really cool. I was expecting something completely different from the description though. I keep re-reading it to try and see how you hear it and it makes you write that. No matter though and certainly no criticism intended, I just think it is very interesting how two people can listen to the very same piece of music and it can engender such different responses from them.
Either way, it's a great tune - and this thread is proving an increasingly difficult, even tantalising, one to read, sat in the living room with no realistic chance in the near future of going to some dark room with a big sound and getting weird until 8am with a load of like-minded knobheads.
