Line i say this with no offence but this is such a RYM/4chan idea for rap i'm surprised nobody has shared that one horrible youtube vid that's how "how to get into experimental hip hop"I dont know if it'll ever become a fully realized sound but I think there is some potential here. Thats essentially that Vegyn artists brand -hip hop idm guy- but his actual projects are pretty bland.
maybe what Id really want is more hip hop with aphex synths
I admitted its a very embarrasing premise in my initial postLine i say this with no offence but this is such a RYM/4chan idea for rap i'm surprised nobody has shared that one horrible youtube vid that's how "how to get into experimental hip hop"
It just SCREAMS 2002 to me
quite a restrained comment compared to what i was expecting from you @WebEschatologyLine i say this with no offence but this is such a RYM/4chan idea for rap i'm surprised nobody has shared that one horrible youtube vid that's how "how to get into experimental hip hop"

i feel like this is going to require putting down a list of specific sounds or whatever equipment those guys were using in the 90s in order for this to work. I know you're not broadly going for experimental hip hop or whatever but the kind of music that had ambitions or inavertedly sounded like that often tended to come from that particular branch of rap.I think youre missing it just slightly Web ( I didnt explain it tbf). The point isnt so broadly experiemental hip hop or even dance/electronic music inspired hip hop, but hip hop that uses the retro quintesentially 90's idm sounds that you might find bundled together in a fruity loops sound pack. In fact its preferable if the song isnt 'experimental' at all like the first two I posted.
Theres probably a few ways to take this but the songs I was thinking of were anything that sounds like those handful of aphex twins songs that could be called 'crossover hits.' So soft synths/pads and jittery meters making a quaint atmosphere thats both sleepy and cute and touch surreal.i feel like this is going to require putting down a list of specific sounds or whatever equipment those guys were using in the 90s in order for this to work.
