Had to stop reading when I got to "Noonan was at her desk drinking coffee as black as a vinyl record..."better than the book club we never do for obvious reasons.

I never agree with all these rules people have about fiction and studies literary people especially seem to pick up these expectations

i read it sheils. pretty short. this one didn't ring true for whatever reason. like it felt writerly like it took place in someone's imagination rather than real life. there's a sort of radio 4ness to it as well, a middle of the roadness. it reminded me of things i read when i was a teenager in that respect. maybe something went over my head.
