No idea mate. During the summer I'd suggest that you go to Club Der Visionaere, but it's outdoors by the Spree and hence closed over the winter months. I'd just rest up and head back to Panorama Bar on Sunday. The atmosphere in there tends to be much better than on Fridays, though they're opening the Berghain for the Warp thing so it might not be too dry.

Wax Treatment next Sunday, 28 Feb ... Mark Ernestus, DJ Pete, Ras Kush and me.

Kush (NYC / Black Redemption) will no doubt be unleashing a heap of steppers dubplates, he's been doing a lot of work recently with singers like Fred Locks, Prince Allah, Judah Eskender Tafari and Johnny Clarke, so will probably be showcasing this stuff and other unreleased Black Redemption material.

I'll be doing some dub/dubstep crossover business most likely: got a new mix in that style up here.

And yeah, as said before, it's Berlin's best sound system ....

just got around to reading the mark ernestus interview in last month's issue of the wire, MAN do i wish ny had a store that was even close to hard wax. i remember when temple records was sort of like that, with DB, khan and the guy from disco b working the counter and spinning all the fresh shit. sonic groove was decent too, but stores like that are long gone here. damn.

hope all you berliners appreciate it!

what are the aprox. set-times?
who plays first?

for me wax treatment is always about mark ernestus. his selection is always so incredible and powerfull it just blows the dubstep sound away (sorry, but that's always my impression).

yeah i agree, his selection is amazing ...

set times haven't really been decided yet as far as i'm aware.

^^ that was a good night...

but i discovered, much to my dismay, that you can't go to cookies randomly anymore. every other time it's been decent, 90s hiphop or soul in the small room, standard but competent minimal in the large. but last night was the most soul less and fucking boring type of disco you can imagine... not even that vapid new school shit which at least sounds ok... and the large room was even worse. (only good thing was lots of good looking girls) sorry had to vent. i'm angry that i payed 8 euros at 3AM and left after 45 minutes.

Our Berlin flat for your London pad

Thought I'd stick this here too...
We have to be in London for the whole of May and need somewhere to stay without putting friends out. So, on the off chance that someone fancies a trip to Berlin with free accommodation...
(would have to be a minimum of a week to make it worthwhile)

cheb khaled is playing in berlin next week, on the 3rd, at huxley's. i've never been there, not sure what sort of venue it is and tickets are expensive. i saw him few months ago in copenhagen, was really excellent, best live thing i've seen for ages, not sure if the high price might deter berlin people tho.

i skipped a chance to see Hamza El Din for about 100 USD once and kicked myself ever since... but right now i really don't think i can afford an expensive show! shit.

normally last sunday of the month. it was on last sunday (25th). i believe the next one might be a week early (may 23rd) to coincide with the karnival der kulturen but i'm not 100% sure. presumably they'll post the flyer on their website.

the open air wax treatment today was really great.
first of all, as usual - mark ernestus. heavy selection, rolling thunder bass and echo beats. the perfect dance music. godfather dj for me.
haven't check much of mark ainley, perhaps he played later.
burnt friedman started with some top selection of ethiopiques stuff, old indian vinyls, gamelan, flavoured with non-place style dub.
african guests were ok, but sometimes the music was too heavy - too many layers, too many drums.
wasn't able to check any dubstep - why should i, after the tremendous dub part?
a question to those who perhaps where there. why people aren't dancing? what's wrong? i guess dub is made for skanking.
