Great 2 Step?

dominic

Beast of Burden
i'm way behind the curve on 2-step. wasn't really buying records during the peak years of the 2-step movement, though i do recall dancing at the local to artful dodger and a few others. here's what i'm feeling, most of which is mentioned upthread . . . .

EVERYTHING i've heard by m-dubs
stamp crew, "madness on the streets"
b-15, "girls like us"
fresh business, "goodies"
atfc, "bad habit" (think i have wrong mix, though, i.e., great song but over-produced by stanton warriors)
deetah, "honey lollipop"
moe'z'art, "fantasy

Anyone know of mixes (online, CDs...) that offer a heavy dose of Confetti/Confetti Dubs material? I really want to hear more, especially the Chris Mack and Donna Dee/Lady Penelope stuff.

Also, I'm still looking for more UKG/2step radio recordings pre-2001/2 but I haven't had much luck.

I swear somewhere someone has a huge bank of amazing turn-of-the-millennium UKG Rinse/Deja/Flave etc. sessions! Just need to find them - have you inquired on specialist Garage forums (if such things exist?).

What about those old Kode9 mixes - 21 century skank, dub steppa mix etc.?

yeah that's the stuff! i should maybe lurk around a bit more on the 2SG forum. i miss the old skool room at the rinse forum. those kode9 ones are excellent. i'd like earlier stuff though.

I just dont know
its true, some 2step mixes from its early days would be amazing, early locked on and previous etc...

the actual Locked On compilations on Virgin Records might be worth a look... i have Vol 3 and its superb, some deep, very very abstract Dem2 tracks

Confetti stuff seems pretty scarce in mixes on the net, probably theyre mostly owned by non-forum types! And most radio mixes would need converting from tape which i guess is long.

You can get some free sets from http://www.confettirecords.com/ (terrible quality without tracklists!) Im pretty sure you can also buy mp3 bundles from their sister site, although i've never done it myself for some reason :/ i think i may do soon though

thanks elgato.

have you seen the prices on used confetti vinyl? mental. minimum £25-30 for a lot of it.

I just dont know
yeh i know its ludicrous. some are around £100! madness. but very very good, some amazing 4x4 too. Love, Peace & Unity also with some very big stuff from the same crews / sound, i would absolutely love to have some of those 12s

really interesting that Mystic Matt is now one of the key figures in the Bassline House scene, he picks the releases for Northern Line apparently

edit, i just thought this is kind of the wrong thread, it should be in the great 4x4 one!
