How much do you drink?

Say, if you could break it down into two categories -a) when at home b) when out socialising - how much do you drink, on average, a night? (talking alcohol)

4 pints, 5 at a push if going out. I would drink more but I invariably start falling asleep after five.

I don't drink at home at all.

a) staying in = 1 beer (2 on the rare occasion, like if it's really hot out)

b) going out = 2 pints minimum, 5 pints maximum

almost exclusively beer...a little wine sometimes, almost no hard liquor...

At home: 2 or 3 cans of red stripe. Or maybe half a bottle of wine. I am trying to cut down on drinking at home.

Out (down the pub): 3 or 4 pints

Out (with martin): anything up to about 8? :slanted:

never drink at home, or so rarely as to be neglible. it just seems to make me feel sleepy in the house - especially red wine.

out though, a total beer monster who depending on what else is going on can drink ten pints or more and not be falling over or even looking particularly wrecked. thats probably not a good sign. its the old binge drink thing i guess.

haha.
i have a couple cans at home max, maybe some whisky, if i've got some good single malt stuff, but it's a bit rare that as i'm skintos alot at the moment it seems.
Tends to feel a bit depressing drinking at home no?
Alcohol is a downer kinda drug in a way and on your own it seems a bit of a lonely thing to do.

out i'll drink 2-3 - it's usually either 3 max or more i reckon, depends on the conversation and company and the drunken adventure, my staying power etc.

Yeah- at home drinking is extremely depressing in general (and hence I avoid).
When out I usually drink about 3-6 pints of beer perhaps. Maybe more if I have eaten as that extends my drinking capabilities somewhat... Although I am not a creature of habit and can go months without a beverage of this nature, before indulging in a bloated binge of consumption...

I love drinking, but pretty much only pints and in good company. Actually I like red wine as well, preferably with food. I don't tend to drink at home unless I'm with people but I think that I could easily get in to drinking on my own if I wasn't careful not to do it too often - when I have a can or two left in the fridge or something. I don't want to get in to going out to get tinnies when I'm in on my own, that way madness lies I fear.

Rarely drink at home, although I go through phases of getting beers in at the supermarket - never have more than 1 at a time though.

Out - not often more than a few pints unless there's druqs about, in which case all bets are off.

what i'm trying to stop is drinking when i don't feel like it.

sometimes a neat scotch or a guiness tastes and feels fucking great; and other times i don't want a drink at all -- feeling great as is and a drink would ruin my clear headed high. but pretty much how ever i feel, if i'm at a social situation where everyone else is drinking, i order or make a drink. and after the first one the pavlovian response kicks in and i have a second, a third... i say to myself there is nothing wrong with ordering a juice or water if i god damn feel like it but it's hard for some reason...

If I'm out, I'll drink around four glasses of wine or three/four double (mixers), but if when at home I'll usually have maybe two/three glasses of wine (with meals) per week.

arriving in Blighty has really seen my consumption of alcohol increase...not necessarily in intensity but definitely in frequency (although this is also probably helped by me not being the piss poor student i used to be). drinking seems to be the default option for social gatherings given the relative paucity of 'cafe culture' or other equivalents

will have the occasional drink at home but that's generally a primer before going out or when friends are out.

as for drinking out and about, rarely goes above two drinks... something to do with me cycling literally everywhere (drunk in control of a bicycle dangerous in Londontown) and having hang ups about getting off my chops given the experiences i've had with family and friends when they've gone beyond the point of being pleasantly unsober

home: often one or two tall cans of beer or glasses of something. one with dinner one later. maybe a third if i'm making merry.

out: (quiet night) 2-4, (less so) 5-7. where i 'came of age' we took it more seriously though. 8-10+ mixed or bottled was the norm.

in my view, drinking in the afternoon at home is a sign of incipient alcoholism. have seen loads of mums who's kids are in school thinking its ok to do that, but there's something about drinking in the day which just brings on chaos and fosters dependence - particularly women, who are generally more susceptible to alcohol as a rule.

I drink mostly when I'm out and on the weekends at home. I drink sometimes at home during the week as well (a glass or two with dinner). If I'm at home by my self in the evening I'll often have a beer or three while watching telly/playing xbox/listening to music. So I guess I drink a fair bit. I pretty much never get drunk and certainly never get drunk by myself... From this thread I guess I'm a fairly regular drinker.

having a thick, dark ale first thing on sunday morning with breakfast once in a blue moon is very very enjoyable for me. especially when absolutely famished -- sheer heaven. or leaving the club at 8 AM and going straight to get a bloody mary or 3, the tomato juice and the sharp kick rejuvinates the body and spikes up the spirit... one of the most enjoyable way to drink.

the bloody mary is a fine thing: all that tomato is good for the old prostate too!

the virgin mary..or bloody shame...is a good drink too, i think.

should BM's be very simple - tom juice, worcesterhsire sauce, tabasco, lemon juice, celery salt

or all the above + horseradish, sherry,

NOT AT ALL SURE about clamato or the BIg Tom mix you get on 'planes
