road rap - piff gang, the choice of the internet fan from east london

still think S.A.S are good, and have excellent stories to tell

Piff Gang are the fucking worst.

Haven't really heard a good tape in a while to be honest; need to do some digging on URM but it's all gone a bit quiet really.

Anyone heard any bangers lately? The new G-Force Luka posted is good.

Faux Goons

Road Rap guys are really close to the streets so they seem to go on HMS holiday camp. Like young Skrapsta.

Prefer this, has more energy to it.

I still think road rappers are a bit samey. Compared to grime where it seemed like there was more individual style to things. Admittedly I've heard little road rap really... but it seems that way.

I think the biggest thing holding road rap back I can see is the beats, they are all sort of alright but generally even the best ones sound pretty generic and a bit lifeless to me. Infact the stuff ive probably enjoyed the most hsa been either over US beats or the dancehall stuff sneakbo, poltiical, gas gang et al are doing. Generic beats = generic sounding flows really.

I'll put a discalimer on that^ that I have only been dipping into UK Rap from time to time and have a fairly limited exposure and would loved to be prooved wrong.

A lot of it is samey (especially production wise)... I mean, if I'm only looking at the 'trap' stuff that inspires a lot of this road rap - but there are huge characters/voices within that: Rick Ross, Waka Flocka, Gucci Mane, Gunplay, Meek Mill...

I mean, maybe I see the differences more because I'm immersed in it?

sometimes it seems its an ideological commitment to being low key. theres always a big thing in the uk about not drawing attnetion to yourself. its part of our national character. we think its reflective of shallowness or something. a lack of dignity.
