Public Enemy are a massive formative influence on hardcore so we are all obliged to vote for them.

Corpsey

NWA

Public Enemy is one of my major blind spots when it comes to rap. I don't like Chuck D. (Also I don't like KRS One.)

About, I dunno, maybe 10 years ago, I kept hearing this everywhere. I can't remember what set of events had conspired to make it contemporary again but it did sound contemporary.

We've talked before about how Chuck D seems to belong to a pre hiphop age. An anachronism.

You love this Corpsey. No rapping on it.

Oh yeah - did I tell you that or did you guess?

This was one of the only tracks on Nation of Millions I ever listened to lol

I will say that despite my disinterest in their records, I can imagine they were absolurely brilliant live.

I've seen them live. Unfortunately it was in a Midlands airfield on a soaking wet afternoon.

IT would have to have been in their messianic heyday to really make sense. S1Ws dancing in military formation. Revolutionary fervour.
