Oh, and the third rule: Homer Simpson tie -> shirt tucked into underpants. :D

 Ties with jeans? When to tuck a shirt in? This is reaching new levels of insanity!!! Your mamma must still tie your laces for some of you. Oh what has the curse of casualwear done to the sartorial state of the world....? Collared shirts a major source of debate? Oh, the shame. Now ties with denim. Ties with denim!!! There's no bloody hope for any of you so why don't you all just stick to wearing that which requires the least imagination or style...jeans'n't-shirt....what a sorry bunch...you really should spend that money on clothes instead of African GrimeDub now and again, really.

Oh dear, you just described me down to a tee.

What I WANT at the moment is a PLAIN grey sweatshirt without detailing in a DECENT thick sweat fabric without a logo. I don't like Uniqlo stuff and it's driving me up the ruddy wall. Not that I've got the dosh to buy one, but that's what I want. And a pair of Nike Air Max 95 Silver RK5's, size UK 8 if anyone's got any they don't want.

woops

is not like other people
Since Mr Jenkins is enjoying this so much, why don't I raise the idea of a shirt worn under a hooded top with a zip? I happen to think this look ROCKS and the comparison of the hoody to a suit jacket is just too funny. In fact I think I'll rock it myself tonight.

Maybe I'll try to dig out a tie to go with it. And blue jeans natch haha

not entirely true. faded baggy levis? not a good idea. but there is most certainly tie-friendly denim. i do this on the regular

Actually, now that I think about it, I went to a pretty good 50s swing/rockabilly (there may even have been lindyhop involved at one point, I'm not sure) night years ago, and I have to say I was rocking, quite hard, a blue jeans/white shirt combo, set off with a thin red tie and shiny black shoes. Shirt was tucked in, it goes without saying.

woops: hoodie with tie? now you're really rocking the boat my man... best of luck to you

i usually do zipped down hoodie with v-neck or just undershirt.

vest with tee and maybe long silver chain necklace - i've seen so many crap rockers in LA do this that it turned me off for a long time. but I've been doing it recently and i like it.

same with suspenders and tee. with some kind of "cool" belt and kangol. a bit gay or skin-head i realize but it's damn sharp.

RE American Apparel: Some of it is quite dull but some is fairly brilliant. I have some nice dresses and long vests from there. I also own the purple version of this skirt, which is probably one of my favourite items of clothing, ever. I like that many band t-shirts are printed on American Apparel, these days. Though, to be fair, I only currently regularly wear one band t-shirt (an Enon t-shirt with a cat's head on a man's body, printed on a blue AA t-shirt) as I am clearly not nerdy and male enough to pull off band t-shirts. ;)

i am dorky and male enough to love band t-shirts and wish i had enough to wear them every day. problem is I like to take time over buying stuff and making sure it fits just how I like, and obviously you dont get that opportunity at merch tables. I bought a girls size tee when I saw Sonic Youth last year, and the design is so nice, but in the sober light of day I look ridiculous in it.

i've got a grey and yellow Goo one that's from Amplified, who I always thought were overpriced judging by their Rolling Stones ones and shit, but this fits beautifully. i didn't know it was amplified and it was twenty quid off ebay, so even better. i love my An Albatross ones too. and have recently inherited a sleeveless Converge one off a mate - Hydra Head do really nice tees, it's just a shame a lot of the bands are crap these days...

Beast of Burden
i frequently wear polo shirts - both plain (always ralphs, never any substitute) and horizontally striped (i have a couple of generic ones that i bought in the US and like a lot). today i am wearing a grey hanes t-shirt with a navy blue muji cardigan with a kind of polo shirt collar, jeans and white rod lavers - strange that anyone should mention them, i like those shoes a lot. it's just struck me that this outfit would piss off messrs meme (cardigan), mms (t-shirt) and eden (white kicks) all at the same time. result!!! i also happen to think i look pretty nice.

Lacoste, man!

Ralphs have that dodgy longer-at-the-back thing afoot and that makes me vexed.
