Has anyone heard anything at all from Uptown about the D Malice vinyl?

It's getting a bit silly now  and I've had no reply to enquiries.

still waiting for mine too. is it just me or have new funky releases just come to a standstill? haven't seen anything new on uptown since the african warrior / d malice pre-orders went up. so frustrating when you hear so many new tunes on mixes all the time, but can't get your hands on any of 'em... always the way. I'm praying yellow tail gets a release soon.

i bugged em and got a generic 'not in stock yet' notice, pretty rubbish behaviour.
that's after going in there literally 4 weeks ago and they told me it would be in the next day.

There was a problem with the pressing / plant from what I heard.

I don't fuck with uptown anymore, I know I kinda lose in that deal, but I've got better shit to worry about & I'd rather spend my money with people that don't act like pricks :slanted:

rhythm division was good for selection but their site has been down for months now. other than that it's mainly just the 320s at ukfunky.com (lots of new stuff lately) and some bits on juno download

uptown have been evicted although the online thing is still going. I would expect further delays as a result though.

allegedly, a lot of stock is still inside the old shop. I don't know enough to know if that's true or not, mind; Avalanche Music Hut went on an online slander spree yesterday.

Yeah, you're right - new bpm = new vibe. But where I'm coming from is:

a) I've already done 130bpm. I did it with Culture Killer and a load of other stuff. Move Down Low is 120. Obviously there'll be a funky version of Culture Killer, maybe a bit quicker. I might do a bit more at that speed.

b) I want to draw a line from banging early grime / sublow - in particular Mark One's Amazon, which is an iconic track for me - through early Kode 9 and into funky. So you can mix easily between a tougher version of funky with grime and dubstep, as well as heavy latin MAW-style gear. (i.e. without it turning into techno.)

c) I really love the soulful stuff, supa D's sets are fabulous!
yeah i can see all of that. there's very percussive garage-related stuff that, slowed down, i've been finding fits alright in the mix, though the feel is different. i'm also happy with a cleaner slate at the moment too though just to see what happens

Hmmm... maybe I should just claim my money back through Paypal and forget it?

My main concern is that they took full payment straight away and have just sat on my order (for 5 records) for 3 weeks because one of the records is out of stock.

They need to just send out the others and eat the cost of posting out the D Malice on its own at a later date. Or at the very least tell people what's going on / reply to enquiries.

yeah i went past uptown today. there was some notice from the landlord on the window - looks like they havent been making their rent. the guy at blackmarket said they might be getting more funky stuff though as theyre no longer around.

but in the meantime, that means if i want those funky 12s it works out to be almost 40 quid just for four 12s including p&p! not sure if i can do that right now :slanted:
