I really haven't never liked reggae/dub reggae-dubstep, but this is cool. The problem with this kind of dubstep is, that it sounds too much reggae, not really having that unique mark what dubstep haves. But these garage-drums and that high pitch hoover makes it different to cheap reggae-copy-dubstep.

I think I'd hate it a lot more if I didn't have huge childhood nostalgia for that song. My mate dropped it as an mp3 last night and I went mad, man.

Just reminds me of being really really young, it's probably not the best song now I'm sober but whatever.

who knows...
dunno most of the stuff he does seems like copy paste material.

one of his first releases (i think it was called 'Jah Love' or something like that) was nothing more then a refix of a Scientist track with some extra low-end and more drums. with zero credit anywhere to the original track.

I'll say. This is like dubstepsploitation.

Loads of people have done the same with Coki and Rusko/Caspa etc. It seems to be a trend for a lot of new, less creative producers unfortunately.

I am still trying to understand why people are so excited by the Chase and Status material, it may be well produced, but is exceptionally dull and predictable.

Yeah, predictable is the word. Strange really cause they were making pre-halfstep dubstep that was way better years before. Still seemed pretty derivative back then to be honest, but at least they were good dance floor tunes

too hyped. . 1xtra and R1 got behind it.

& the track with Plan B on is even worse.

Their MC track with Trim and Scratch is notable only for Trim's line about the cardigan/face in the guardian, the beat is pretty boring.

I haven't really been paying much attention to dubstep recently (having been listening mostly to funky and grime, and having been put off by the Caspa and Rusko types), but I just downloaded that Generation Bass special for the Mary Anne Hobbes show and it is absolutely fantastic. So many heavy tunes, so much variety in style and not relying on wobble to be floor movers or garage-revival to be deep. It's that middle-ground I've been looking for and it reminds me of how I felt in 2005/2006 when I first really started taking dubstep seriously.

Really digging the Antisocial Camp; Quest and Silkie ripped that set.

yeah there's a whole new thing in dubstep going on right now. I can't help fixating on funky and grime but thre's a load of hot new tunes out there

The Hyperdub special is as good if not better for next level stuff, as is the Kode9 Maida Vale set. Both incredible...
