Where should I eat in London?

Jai Krishna and Jai Shri Krishna are amazing. It helps that they're unlicensed and the offie across the road from the Stroud Green Road one has a seriously impressive bottled beer range as well...

Thanks sufi. Is there anything else in New Malden? I may be being overly harsh on it because it takes so long to get there. It seems like it's designed exclusively around travelling around in a car and I automatically find those sorts of places a bit depressing. I suppose 90% of places are but I don't tend to go to them.
here you go:
-Sura (nice place to have a big gathering)
020 8336 0121
79-81 Kingston Road, New Malden, Surrey KT3 3PB

-Yumihuiguan (Korean Style Chinese food, Nice soup based noodle, really spicy)
(020) 8715 1079
96 Burlington Road, New Malden, Surrey, KT3 4NT

-Yeonji (Nice BBQ, small place)
020 8942 7184
106 BURLINGTON ROAD, NEW MALDEN, SURREY KT3 4NS

-Lotte Sushi (inside Seoul Plaza Korean shop, Korean style of Sashimi)
020 8949 4998
126 Malden Road, New Malden, Surrey KT3 6DD

-Seorabul (good menu selection and good food)
020 8942 2334 / 07824 863 143
180 High Street, New Malden, Surrey KT3 4ES
yum feeling peckish now

On the subject of Korean, Dotori at Finsbury park tube (on Stroud Green Road technically, I guess, at the very, very bottom) is excellent. Korean/Japanese fusion stuff, i think.

The Old Justice down on the river, Bermondsey tube, is really good Korean too. It's the pub where they used to film the Sweeney, only its been taken over by Korean kids who sit there on their laptops doing their architecture degrees or whatever. If yu're really lucky they'll put a board over the pool table and play ping pong. It makes me happy to be in London.

Repetitive
Finally got round to trying one of those NM Korean places (thanks sufi!). Went to Yeonji, was totally empty for most of the time we were there which is a shame, as most of the places I walked past on the High Street were packed. Had the BBQ as per the recommendation, which was really nice. Sirloin Beef was the best imo, but they were all good. First time I've had Korean BBQ so can't really compare like for like, but I will definitely be eating more.

Think it would take about 5 minutes to get to Dotori from my house so I'll hit that up next.

I eat loads of Vietnamese cos it’s easy to access around Shoreditch and I can go for lunch but I’ve never found Thai that’s really got me going. I want to go to the Heron but does anyone know of anywhere else that also does proper good Thai food, there must be millions of dishes beyond the few standards but one tends not to see them sometimes…

Yep, always had better Vietnamese food than Thai in London. Reckon there would be an opening for a Cambodian restaurant - their cuisine seems a bit different, black pepper used in preference to chili etc, different herb/spice combinations...

Yeah I'd love to try some Cambodian food.

I'm sure there are great Thai places out there, like the Heron, just got to find them...

Let's Talk About Ceps
Here's one for the authenticity theorists: curry house in Mile End called Biryani World, promising "authentic Anglo-Bengali fusion cuisine". :D

Where's good / interesting in the gastropubby line in London?

Preferably with good pub as well as good gastro.

Tea - that's brilliant.

Canton Arms in Stockwell, really nice place. Haggis and foie gras toasties, must've talked about it on this thread before.

The Peasant of St John's Street. Homemade scotch eggs for a quid. Plus they always have this beer...

Really? Been in there but not eaten.

Forgot: The Compass on Penton St (?), next to Chapel Market, does amazing food; even for feeding 100 people out of (nearly) vats their food was better than most restaurants I've been to.

*disclaimer* i worked as a barmanwaiter at The Peasant for years all through university... they've gone quite gastrofancy now but i think the nibbly stuff they do is good and unusually inexpensive... their scotch egg is practically a meal tbh... not been since i got sacked tho, they have a new chef i think. the former chef was a massive smack addict but he made nice food lol
