All normal people are six foot.

Are you six foot?

I'm not surprised Barty prefers Prince cos he's a pervert. Jacko seems to have been a pervert but that never got into his music (the best of it anyway).

When Jacko comes on stage with the Jackson 5 and sings "Wanna be where you are" it's the sound of a kid who's been given superhuman, divine talent. Again, like Mozart. (Maybe I'll run with this, in private, in my head.)

Barty has spent the whole thread saying how prince is not real music and he's not a real person just a session musician in a pair of briefs and some Cuban heels.

It's funny how despite all the evidence pointing to him being a paedophile I get angry when people go in on him.

I was imprinted with Jacko love at a very young age. Soundtrack of my life. You can't help but feel defensive. And the mega fans take this to the extreme.

His death was the only celeb death that ever really got me. I remember hearing his music coming out of cars and pubs etc. when he died.

The feeling at the time was he was someone who had suffered his whole life.

Something archetypal about him, really. Or like a fairy tale. Maybe that was just a cynical front he erected to cover up crimes. But still - gifted by the gods, cursed by the gods.

The lack of personality thing luka was on about means Jacko the person is almost entirely separate from the music for me. I don't think of the scary man with the facial surgery and everything when I hear the stuff, just a white suit dancing to Smooth Criminal or the cover of Off the Wall.

tbf, dangerous was made before all the really dark shit started. history and invincible don't really count. all the good shit was made when he was a simple kook.

Prince is someone I appreciate more each day, but MJ was instantaneous. You can just see, feel and hear it as soon as you see him perform.

That gets more and more pronounced as time goes on too till the whole performance is just a series of tics; grunts squeals hiccups, gasps

The two thoughts I have about this are that 1) it reminds me of all the ad libs in Atlanta stuff and 2) it sounds like he's in pain, everything's so angular and strained in his vocals and movements, like a human marionette being pulled around and manipulated.

There's an illustrated Dean Koontz thing about sentient toys which features an evil marionette called Rex who ultimately fails his master, some sort of satanic figure, and is punished by having strings attached. I can't seem to find a better picture, but this is him.
