I went looking for the pic "Terry's tools" from the Nick Knight Skinhead book after seeing this thread but couldn't find it online.

I guess I used to carry markers and paint around when I was a teenage tagger but that's as close as I've come to regularly carrying. Some of the more wacky self defence stuff I used to read would extol the virtues of the yawara-bo, a small bit of wood to be held while you thump someone.

not sure if it's true but I once read a surprising number of Americans who own a gun to defend their home actually end up being on the receiving end: they aren't trained in fighting use, panic when confronting an intruder, often get the gun taken from them and either stolen or used on them!
