Time as a whirlpool, I've gotta say, it sounds more interesting than Alan Moore's formulation of time as a fat sausage, but it feels wrong to me.

Vorticism. Time moves faster at the centre. Singularity point.

It might move more slowly I don't know but the circles are smaller is the point

So time moves more quickly because it's circuit is reduced

When you think about it, if you're on the edge of a whirlpool you do a circuit in the same time as someone who is nearer to the centre, but you have travelled further (a bigger circle), so you are moving faster.
Nearer to the center the circuit takes the same time (unless it's some complex type of thing) but the elements that make it up are moving more slowly.

is it about perception?

if you watch the water go down the plughole, you perceive the speed as faster for the water going down, right by the hole, whereas when the water is not near the hole, it appears to move more slowly.

when in reality there's no difference in the speed?

doesn't sound right - i dunno.

think about a record spinning. the needle does a full circuit every rotation, but it travels covers a greater distance at the outside than it does in the last groove
