i have seen walker and another of his, highway patrolman? but they're a bit messy. sid and nancy is o. repo man was the best of the lot but it's gotta be at least 20 years since i saw it.

Oh yeah before I forget, his other one was around supply lines and the aden straits / suez which is actually a very good one isn't it. Mad how after all these years, those small channels of water are still so important.

And another one he was talking about was methods of digging and excavation, how they've not changed alot since the pyramids.

And he was also saying that a lot of stone fdatvings eg on churches, in cities, they have not been carved but rather poured into moulds.

This whistleblower seems somewhat convenient for the establishment. She appears armed with documents proving how terrible Facebook is, the damage the site is having on people, and, rather than recommending dismantling the company and reevaluating social media as a whole, she comes out with the usual lines about hate and misinformation and advocates for further control over the internet...

I agree with her that the company clearly puts profits above the well being of its customers, but that's a societal problem that isn't exclusive to Facebook and she isn't recommending anything to tackle that. She's pushing the usual American liberal thing of the problem being that the people who know what's best for you need yet more power to keep you safe and happy.

im around 2.5 hours deep into this hearing of hers, and she is sparking a bipartisan crusade to rehabilitate Facebook and by extension the young people whose realities have been heedlessly impacted and mental health decimated by Facebooks algorithms.

This is far from my ideal of capitalism, and I believe government intervention is all but imperative.

The chairman of this hearing, Blumenthal (D), commented that this revelation made the partisan divide seem small in comparison.

Everyone, even Cruz, has appeared to be aligned here, and there is a palpable sense of severity. One of the democratic senators called Haugen a true 21st-century hero, and I haven’t seen a witness speak so comfortably and confidently before a committee/subcommittee before.

She is pitching some Grade A ideas, in my opinion.

More a revelation that our suspicions of facebooks apathetic practices now have evidence to support them. She also manages to describe the psychological impact of these apathetic practices, and how whole generations of young users, particular women, are developing health disorders that may impact fertility, I.e anorexia, etc.

But she is also intelligent and insightful, and ambitious enough to even make such attempts at rectifying things, such as her suggestions for how Congress should request that Facebook comply.

I think these revelations could force a change, but senators from both sides here mentioned how much of a hold the Facebook lobbyists have in D.C.

I do think this is an example where people need to be rescued by federal efforts.

This really feels like the other shoe is hitting the floor, in terms of sociologically accounting for the hyperiformational mass psychosis being experienced by digital natives.

Frances Haugen may be the first person I would want to vote for, in general. She has a more apt vision than the congresspeople, who are explicitly asking her how to formulate and parameterize public policy about data collection disclosure, data privacy, etc.
