what else did you get into? who is horny man y panty man?
I played in bands (this was the only one which even approached being ok:
), went to an interesting high school, wandered the city extensively, saw lots of amazing music at venues people now consider legendary, was in the presence of numerous famous people (but did not talk to them bc I was painfully shy), did graffiti, spent a lot of time at the library, ate krsna food whenever possible, and was fortunate enough to be involved with some things which no longer really exist (squatting, peddling on St. Mark's Place, being a bike messenger, living in an apartment btwn 1st and A which cost less than 3k/mo), but was a very angsty baby, and didn't really appreciate any of it as much as I maybe should have.
Was overjoyed to leave the city in 93. Scarcely thought of the place until I returned to play a show in 2008. I've been back several
times since then, and reckon I like it less each time, but still read sites like EV Grieve on the regular, and get super sad when places
like Odessa Restaurant close, even though that place was always terrible.
@polystyledesu and I were a part of the same NYC microverse. He's a bit older than I am, and probably has much better stories.
