it looks like youre supposed to add the onion and cilantro selectively to certain bites. maybe with that bread you make a little sandwhich bite

Yeah, Pav Bahji is a Mumbai street food, basically a thick curry paste of mashed up vegetables and spices, cooked with lots of butter and served with raw red onion, lemon, coriander and little bread baps fried in butter and a masala spice mix. Originally developed as a cheap lunch for mill workers.

Very filling and quite delicious. you can get make about 8 meals worth for less than a €10

you cooked it?!!

Yeah, Ive been cooking a shit ton of Indian food over the last few years. Reasonably competent now.

This is the Pav Bhaji recipe I used. Ive tried a few, but theyre all pretty much the same. The onion is an essential garnish in this recipe at least.

There is this thing they do in yer average Indian restaurant where they serve a kind of red onion chutney with poppadoms - raw red onion stained with a red sauce mix of tomato paste, chilli powder, lemon juice & cumin seeds. Takeaways do an even lazier version. Peculiar to the UK as its not common in India.

We have a great shop nearby run by a bunch of lads from Kerala. They have all the accoutrements. I get a couple of bushels of coriander every week for a few pennies.

had a water main break in my neighborhood, no water all day, hopefully back late tonight/tomorrow. it's making dinner of this day a little challenging, or uneventful at least. can't order takeout/takeaway because all the area restaurants are closed, and too lazy to travel outside the area. trying to think of things that don't need boiling water, or water to wash veg. prolly go with something like eggs, toast, maybe some beans, maybe a sausage.

well, the local restaurants are usually open until at least 10pm (and many later) but they're all closed because there's no water. kinda difficult to run restaurant when you can't boil water, wash dishes, make ice.

Gotta reduce the image size, Rich! Once you upload it, click on it and drag the corner square to make it smaller. They'll always look out of focus when they're the size of a billboard.
