Really cool to see British nature (allegedly dull) looking so 8K. Makes you want to get out there, if you're British.

Sad to see old Davey looking properly old, splayed out by the Puffins, but he's still out and about so let us pray.

Not watched an Attenborough joint in a while, the cameras are just absolutely incredible now, they get so close to them, it's almost better than real life, perhaps the ultimate 2D representation of the world (until the next series comes along).

Obviously a big underlying message that it's all been fucked and being fucked. And the political context makes this particularly potent. (Tory scum alleged to have pressured them not to air the sixth episode, although they're saying it was never intended to air.)

I'm ok with "it's all fucked" being a political message we say in order to get people to adopt a modicum of responsibility, but for the sake of discourse on this board I will say that that is not a scientific view of what's going on

With our population in the West starting to level off, and urbanization in full swing, these ecosystems may well be in a better spot by 2050 than they have been since in centuries.

And they're doing fairly well right now, and are quite resilient—for instance, you can eliminate up to ~90% of an ecosystem, in terms of square mileage, without any major extinctions occurring. Europe and North America have a positive speciation rate, i.e. more new species are coming into existence than existing ones are dying out. All in all, prospects for biodiversity are good, outside a few specific and high-profile cases like the Great Barrier Reef. But UK nature? Doing great, will keep doing better and better, good times for British biodiversity ahead

You really are an absolute prat sometimes, you know.

The UK is one of the world's most nature-depleted countries - in the bottom 10% globally and last among the G7 group of nations, new data shows.
It has an average of about half its biodiversity left, far below the global average of 75%, a study has found.

I doubt there is any country on earth with greater biodiversity than England. Have you not heard of "gardens"? Terrible case of gammonism towards foreign species you have there. They're here forever, whether you like it or not, bigot.

You're a prat too, in case there was any doubt.

Is any part of Britain qualify as Wild Isle?

The only time these islands have felt truly wild was a single mission from the western isles of Scotland southwestward, skipping over to the north of Ireland and further southwestern stretches of the Atlantic coast. From the myriad of bird species too numerous to detail, to fish even a pillock like me could catch. I wish I’d had time to push around the northern coast of Scotland to sweep round to the North Sea, a poorly diminished, polluted pool of piss and turds. Yes, we can find awe in its vistas, flora and fauna but look at our rivers and coastal sewage outlets. Horrific. You’d think we could manage water as a resource being in the North Atlantic

The tendency to anthropomorphise creatures in natural world tv shows misses the whole premise of these species collapsing or being extinct within our region of the world at least, just look at bird flu currently, is that disinformation? The problem with Packham et al is their friendliness. Their fawning. The nepotism of getting a relative a co presenter role. Michaela too, strumpet to whichever one of S&A&W was on The Hitman and Her. Their clothes. Dressed for the wild, but it’s actually at a reserve somewhere near Lewes. The epitome of white bread middle class muppet show interactive death cult change nothing inertia agents operating against anything sacred through unyielding cuntery and pompous puffa jackets

The spectrum

Johnny Morris = secondary modern lower middle class

Attrenborough = middle class, upper middle class, royals

Terry Nutkins = a mix

David Bellamy = there was always something a bit odd about that bloke, emerging out of rhododendrons over exited like he’d been busted wanking

been a looooong day but see how they cater for all, it’s an industry there must be more faces, Bill Pullman earnestly encouraging viewers to engage with the life of a moose

Yes the anti-immigrant mindset is really disgusting and bigoted. Calling them invaders.

Tea: Says he's a believer in "science," posts big media propaganda and UN "studies" to back him up

Sus: Reads actual books by ecologists for his environmental opinions, understands that there are many ways to measure diversity and that popular statistics are mainly used as a bludgeoning tool by liberal elites
