Mr. Tea

Let's Talk About Ceps
Anyway, I'm only a chapter or two into the book and i have to say that I am enjoying it, although much of it does seem strangely familiar... have you read it @woops or @luka ? Certainly better than the last novel I read by a (former) dissensian which was a load of meandering and pretentious tosh.
But @woops still posts here quite often?

i said, look Dr Luke, youre Davis Luke, I'm Luke Davis
you're in Greenwich, I'm in Greenwich
you research DMT, I research DMT
this all seems a little odd doesn't it.

I finished the book anyway and I'd definitely recommend it, as well as being written by a sometime Dissensian it deals with lots of topics that regularly come up here, the following and more all get a mention, mostly in passing but in some cases in more detail; Surrealism, Lettrists, Wilhelm Reich, Theosophists, Masonry, Satanism, MK Ultra, Kant, Jacques Dutronc, Rick Owens, Vice Magazine etc etc

If you know Lewis you'll recognize some characters and events from his life but they are hardly important to the story which is very readable for the most part. Towards the end it goes... well some might find it too silly but it didn't spoil it for me. I guess endings are just difficult.

it's a sign youre taking exactly the right amount of drugs when things like that start happening

I had to put a stop to it, dragged him barefoot out of a drumming circle by his beaded necklace and forced him back on the drink

Havent read it yet actually, I dont know why. liking it? read High Rise at the end of last year. would you say his writing leaves an impression on ugly human nature without relying too heavily on strong characters, so the flatness or superficiality is actually the point. constant reference to peoples jobs / roles was irritating me but on reflection did that serve the lesson on status etc

yeah something like that certainly the flatness, or the sense of detachment, medical hygeine sterile surfaces is deliberate and a lot of stupid people dont realise that. its a large part of why its brilliant. a lot of people on dissensus way to stupid to get that.
