Are any of you familiar with the Krishna avatar of Vishnu?

What is going on here reminds me of the death of Krishna and the end of the Yadavas (his people).

He foresees that the race he has created becomes arrogant and so he engineers their extinction and his own death, as a way of lightening the load on Bhoomi Devi (mother earth).

The precise means is by way of an arrogant group of youths, who decide to have a laugh with the learned rishis (sages). They dress a young woman up with a mace under her clothes, so she looks pregnant.

And they then ask the wise men to predict the sex of the baby. The sages see what is going on and warn the lads they should not take the piss. They say their impertinence is going to end their world.

After this, the lads get worried and grind the mace up, chuck it onto the grass. But it causes a weird mutant grass to grow: if someone plucks it, it becomes a mace and encourages the bearer to become aggressive.

Thus the Yadavas self-exterminate.
