Apparently he's gonna sign an EO to dissolve the department of education soon...

We start with the news that president Donald Trump is expected this week to direct the secretary of education to dissolve the US Department of Education by executive order, according to reports.

ABC News reports that sources familiar with a draft of the executive order say it instructs Linda McMahon to close the department by taking all the available steps “permitted by law”.

McMahon herself has previously suggested it would require congressional approval to shutter the department, which has over 4,000 employees and an annual budget of about $240bn.

ABC News reports the draft order says “The federal bureaucratic hold on education must end. The department of education’s main functions can, and should, be returned to the states.”

The order is then reported to describe the agency as an “experiment of controlling American education through Federal programs and dollars.”

Seems to me that they will do it and then get taken to court and it will be ruled illegal - beyond the bounds of an executive order - but it will already be gone.

Panic not. This was announced a while ago. They're devolving power to the states and local authorities. Devolving power is literally anti-fascist cos they're unbundling the bundle of sticks.

Strange that IdleRich is campaigning for fascist centralisation and cheerleading for free trade, something Hitler specifically praised for enabling a Darwinian struggle between the races on a global scale.

Is this mask off time?

Anyway looks as though Trump is walking back and weaseling out of "partially pausing" - a lot of tariffs now that he's grasped their coming straight back at him. Thing is if he cancels tariffs on Canada they probably will cancel theirs- but the goodwill ain't coming back, people will be boycotting US stuff for years now whatever he does. Yet another own goal.

You really do wish he'd never got that ceasefire in Gaza, don't you?

Oh no, ceasefire's fine with you. Maybe you should realise that Trump's a package deal, and if you can't handle him at his worst, you don't deserve him at his best!

It is pretty funny that 'economic expert' Trump has bollixed this up so badly.

First he said Mexico and Canada were treating the US unfairly - cos there is a trade deficit - and he was gonna deal with that by introducing punitive tariffs.

The result of that, Americans started buying loads of Mexican and Canadian goods before the tariffs came in and the trade gap widened.

Then Canada and Mexico said they would retaliate and the US stockmarket fell like a stone as the inflation he'd promised to lower on day one continued to rise.

Then Trump pussied out and paused first the Mexican tariffs, then the Canadian one.

So the upshot is the trade gap has widened, the economy is in danger of recession, Trump has u-turned weakly as Truss did just before she resigned - oh and everyone in Mexico and Canada hates him and is boycotting US goods regardless of tariffs.

So, like HMG said, basically indescribable levels of winning.

A federal court ruled that Donald Trump’s abrupt firing of a former senior official at the top US labor watchdog was illegal, and ordered that she be reinstated.

Gwynne Wilcox was the first member of the National Labor Relations Board to be removed by a US president since the board’s inception in 1935.

Would you go back in these circumstances?

I have just learned that Pornhub is Canadian owned and operated and I think shutting it down in the USA would be a very quick way to end this trade war.

I guess if it's the only such site that would do the trick.
