When Musk was in the process of halving Twitter's workforce people were saying the same thing, that it would never work. But it has. What you're pointing at is "teething troubles".

Its functionality got worse, it's got more bots, it's filled with accounts advertising only fans pages, the number of ads is out of control, the controls are non-existent and those they do have don't work, it's losing users...

During the campaign you claimed the economy was important enough to be a 'real threat' to the Dems if it did well under Trump...

Interesting now he's in and it's doing poorly it's suddenly "not really" important...
The people are happy. When they become unhappy then maybe the economy's to blame. But what good is finding a buck and losing one's soul?

But the US wants to lose users.

Let me just clarify my position on the economy: they're making big changes and big changes are scary, but with change comes opportunity, so let's just keep our eyes on the prize and trust the process; no need to send your American friends any food packages yet.

You've got to bear in mind that Trump is using tariffs not only for economic manipulation but wider political goals too, so the economic effects must be considered along with other ones.

Yes, we'll have to wait and see. That he's got a bloke looking at changing the way GDP's calculated and the mouthpieces are pushing a narrative about Biden's economy being fake suggests they're already doing damage control, mind you.

Is constantly changing, delaying and cancelling the policies you've announced "keeping your eyes on the prize"?

How about denying that you did the stuff you were celebrating with a chainsaw three days ago?

On the one hand they decelerate the economy, cause inflation and crash confidence in the stock market - and on the other hand they make all the other countries hate you and piss off your allies.

It's double-pronged genius.

obleak is willing to say the deplorables are stupid, vile hateful people who deserve to die but he is alone in taking this stance

Those aren't my words nor exactly my stance - it's a bit exaggerated.
It's more like people that shoot themselves in the foot due to their hate and/or ignorance, and/or vote for politicians and policies that they think will only cause others to suffer - it's more that I experience schadenfreude when it comes back to bite them in the ass, especially when they're also causing others to suffer.
Well, that, and I'm also rejecting the excuse that people in red areas feel patronized or looked down on by people in blue areas since a lot of the people I've encountered in red areas will look down on (or even outright hate) just about anyone for any reason.
As for someone saying that I'm "only bashing deplorables because I come from deplorable stock" - If that's meant to say I've spent decades in red areas witnessing and hearing hate against virtually any and every kind minority, not to mention the misogyny, then, yes, I have spent a lot of time and grew up in red areas.
I do have deep appalachian roots from both of my grandparents on my mom's side, but I'm surprised that someone would call that "deplorables stock".
I don't know if they also mean the Boston Irish on my dad's side...
