sorry can't figure out how to get it larger.

It's a bit tedious, but you can:

* attach image file
* post your post
* right-click on the tiny image, open it in a new tab, copy the URL (or just click 'copy image URL')
* edit your post to include this URL enclosed in 'IMG' tags in square brackets, like a normal image link

attachment.php

Edit: just tried it with this image and I had to delete the '&thumb=1' code from the image URL to make it big.

BTW Leo, I stole your sublime 'Goldwater Republican' joke for use on twitter the other day, hope you don't mind. I did point out it wasn't mine!

and this of course,

so, democracy as junkie or alcoholic: it must hit rock bottom before being coming out the other side. and even then, it's never actually cured, it's forever a junkie/alcoholic.

some of this argument makes sense, but there are two major issues: 1) the administration is being stocked to the gills with wall street million/billionaires ("government sachs"), which hardly attunes with the meme of the how this election was the rise of the disenfranchised/left-behind working class mid-america voter again washington/wall street elites (um, who do you think pulls the strings of the global economy?), and 2) the long-term impact of pence-favored conservative supreme court justice appointees, who will remain on the bench and decide on laws for decades after trump is gone from office.

Sure enough, and there are people out there STILL believing the "anti-establishment" BS. Which is one of the sadest aspects of this farce.

I think I've answered my own question about the meaning of 'populism', or at least the right-wing kind: the fake anti-elitism of people who are, economically at least, even more elite than the bulk of the 'elite' they attack, but give the appearance of being outside of the elite because they're "not encumbered by [the] political correctness" that characterized the speech of establishment politicians (i.e. are racist/sexist as fuck), and which appeals to the (justified) economic grievances of both working- and middle-class voters (white ones, at least) who have abandoned/feel abandoned by the left, as well as antagonizing deep-seated prejudices.

A big part of it is the (usually totally false) impression of having 'made it from nothing', or at least from very little, e.g. Trump's claims about 'being the most successful living American' vs. the reality of his having inherited a large share of his father's property empire.
