i'm in a similar boat, obviously they were huge for a while but i always avoided them. listening now sort of confirms my biases: really does sound like electronic dance music by and for people who discovered it yesterday. chugging, utterly monotonous beat ("yeah i'm not playing guitar much these days, i've been getting really into loops man"), basic 80s stutter edits, "lol its like a video game" bleep bloop synths. yet there is a distinctive eeriness and pop sense that it achieves. that's the indie rock approach no formal innovation or ambition but a kind of nebulous charisma. the cover is a nice period piece too. if you look back at photos from that era even the "cool" people appear really greasy and ugly by the dematerialized ring light standards of presentation that "cool" people adhere to now.do this one instead @mvuent
for the record i genuinely like that tyler the creator song, wouldn't have inflicted it on linebaugh otherwiseLinebaugh Mvuent you're doing it wrong the goal is not to ceremonially renounce past loves in the face of overwhelming public pressure, but rather to laugh at the standard bearers of old regimes as out of touch, clueless, worthy of irony posting and little more, the subject of a troll, not worth treating as humans
Speaking of which...its school shooter music but in a good way, somehow
also he is intimidated by the fineness of mvuents earI liked it too, said so in the post. suspended has gone mad
