Waits made a career out of being a Louis Armstrong tribute act and sounding drunk AF. I like 2 tw songs.

Bowie was making some frankly terrible stuff in the 00s (only era I saw him live, he was trying to appear jokey, and normal) and black star is sadly quite a bit overrated but he did a bloody amazing version of wild is the wind and made a shit load of great stuff in the 70s. He also did a lot for blonde guys slicking their hair back. I tried that station to station look for a bit but it wasnt happening.

70s Bowie vs 80s prince is a better comparison tbh.

Nirvana did TMWSTW better than bowie.
