music can set the mood and create a sense of urgency... but unless i'm shitfaced and or hearing it muffled from another room (or distracting housemates), i really can't tolerate having a soundtrack when i get my fuck on, it's too weird and corny. i prefer the organic sounds of wet slapping...

i'd describe it as pastiche rather than derivative - seems a bit kinder. first time i listened to it i was blown away by the detail and consummate construction. i bet it took a lot of effort to make that album... a real labour of love.
