    GENERIC NOSTALGIA TRIGGERS.

Pinking sheers or old wooden Sewing Machines. A reason to go up into the loft as a kid.

    Alex Cox // Moviedrome

I love The Parallax View. Seen some Alex Cox films in a directors cup style competition back on MUBI forum, vaguely remember Walker.

    Good tunes from bad samples

Can't actually think of much hardcore, but sure it wouldn't take much digging.

    Good tunes from bad samples

Best one I did was 'First Time I Ever Saw Your Face' acapella. As it kept saying First First First... and I felt like the first one to ever do that. You could package it up in a little music box that plays endlessly different stuff.

That's basically this MMorph morphing between two vocal chops, played on two channels using Logics random MIDI functions. http://meldaproduction.com/MMorph

    Good tunes from bad samples

That's nifty work there mate. I wish I still had Logic. I had a template set up where I could load a few acapella chops and it would play endlessly and random. Generative music, stochastic. Whatever you want to call it. Never the same sound twice, from about 10 vocal snippets. If I started...

I also like Westchester Lady. Hoped Bob James would have some other decent tunes but he seems a bit loungey.

I never used to like Circles that much, but drove round the Isle of Wight near the coast and the sea seemed to transform the music.

Circles is excellent in execution of the sample. When I have given all my records to a mate, it was the first tune he asked if I'd got. I love mixing The Calling and hearing that sample come in. In my last mix I mixed it out of M Beat - Style and into 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse - Drowning in...

    Choon of the Day, redux

Perfect pop tune. I posted it before too.

Great sample and not so great tune on the A side.

    Nature Watch.

I had a job the other day and a long haired cat followed me into the block of flats. The most playful and friendly cat I've seen in my life, but had never seen a Cat like it before, so Googled it and it came up with Persian Cat. Anyone have one?

    Good tunes from bad samples

I just realised the start of this German Trance tune is sampled by Roni Size & DJ Die in The Calling. What other tunes are great but sample an otherwise cheesy tune?

Films you've seen recently and would recommend WITH reservations

A couple I've watched recently. Rules of Engagement. I thought I'd watch a later Friedkin film of which I've seen few. Started off like a typical war film, not so much my thing, just shooting and bombing. Then turned into a tense court martial drama that was plenty watchable. Then a rewatch of...

Best US City (for choonz) (ever)

Probably Philly. I can't really substantiate it, but they did have First Choice, so that's my underdog choice.
