Did anyone notice that Dem 2 have a new single out? It's good!

Think I prefer groove chronicles to solo el-b, but that may simply be because gc era tunes mean more vocals. Apart from the abovementioned it's about "holiday da vibe", "masterplan" and the damage remix for me, but yeah telefunkin' for the win - I started a mixtape for a friend with it just...

I would be a trifle annoyed (or "internet annoyed") by that outcome. Luka is right about Wookie. Maybe I actually hold his "having inspired a whole genre" via "Far East" against him, vaguely (very good tune tho). But really, the whole "Wookie invented tuff beats" meme = mutherfuckers act like...

Do you really think its because of who he hangs out with? Nah I'm kidding. But time was that people would dismiss Cole as too slick.

Excellent! The last of the great early 2009 Funkystepz bangers (aside from the best one of all, "Lovers", but I think they're giving that a separate release a la "For You"). Maybe "Bounce" got pulled because "For You" has been licensed? (he says optimistically)

Cole's stock appears to be rising again by dint of who he hangs out with now. My favorite Cole tunes are actually from about 2000: "crazy love" and it's dub, and the y2k dub of "sincere" especially.

I think my love of Bump & Flex comes from this sense that his grooves understood the danceability of 2-step better than just about anyone. Defiantly not head music. Bass weight, but no meditate - just, yes, bumping and flexing:

Dreem Teem probably the other glaring omission: when was drum programming ever as exquisite as in their remixes of Amira and of Kwesi's "Lovely" (both 1997!)??

    POLL: Greatest garage producer?

Re joyous/yearning 2-step, my quick top 10 probably would be: 1. Amira - My Desire (Dreem Teem Remix) 2. Kristine Blond - Loveshy (Club Asylum Remix) 3. Sweet Female Atittude - Flowers (Sunship Remix) 4. Valerie M - Tingles 2000 (Artful Dodger Remix) 5. MJ Cole - Crazy Love 6. Zoom & DBX -...

Off the top of my head I count the following absolute classic Dem 2 tunes: Dem 2 - Destiny Groove Connektion 2 - Club Lonely (Dem 2 Don't Cry Dub) Nu-Birth - Anytime (Dem 2 Remix) Dem 2 - Baby (Dub) Aftershock - Slave to the Vibe (Dem 2 Remix) US Alliance - All I Know (Da Grunge Dub) Antonio -...

As usual Grant Nelson/Bump & Flex remains criminally underrecognised :'( Agreed that the Telefunkin' remix is THE ONE for Groove Chronicles. Ghost tunes are a bit of a drop-off in comparison to the early GC stuff. Of this list it's probably Dem 2 for sheer volume of greatness and impact and...

Also, Cheeky Barse has so many stone cold classic tunes on it. That'll be an essential purchase.

Cosign everything Andy's been saying for the last couple of pages. Marcus is falling off a bit. Though I rather enjoyed that Majestic set actually, he's a good MC to use if you absolutely must play long-ass deep tunes as he's so dense, he makes them sound much more interesting than they might...

"Take Off Your Clothes" is the other deep Miss Fire tune.

Hearing "Lost In Your House" as an instrumental underscores even more strongly how Cooly G-like it is (but I probably like it better than any Cooly G productions even, at least as a standalone - Cooly's stuff sounds best for me in the mix). Miss Fire's versatility is pretty amazing.
