Ramadanman / Pearson Sound

hmm Hate to put a break in all the love but to me his output seems to be moving upwards but not necessarily forwards. I agree, he is a good producer but none of his recent output screams to me "2009". It's a super high polished version of what has come before it by himself and other producers...

    Hip Hop 09?

Best thing I've heard in ages.

    Moderat

Apparat seems to kill decent artists work (exhibit A: Orchestra of Bubbles) but I can forgive Modeselektor for almost anything simply for producing one of the best songs of the last 5 years. <param name="allowFullScreen"...

    Hip Hop 09?

As much I like to think my teen years held nothing but Gansta Rap, 90s radio was crammed with RnB. Yes, there were radio shows (always have been) playing hiphop but the big places (national radio, MTV) were dominated by Mariah Carey, En Vogue, Boys2Men, Jodeci, R kelly, Brandy, Babyface ... the...

    wonky

Wow, haven't heard that in ages. I have his LP on Chocolate floating around somewhere. Remember really digging it. Will have to dig it out again. Lots of beat craft from about from about 10 years ago is definitely being revitalized at the moment. The Deep/er Concentration series on OM. Some of...

    Hyphy vs Jerkin

    Hyphy vs Jerkin

I grew up in the Bay Area (the 'sico). I moved away a few years but I still try and keep up with the stuff going on. Have a question for anyone who follows West Coast hiphop: What happened to hyphy and what is jerkin? I came across jerkin about 6 months ago. At first I thought it was just some...

    wonky

I don't think he is mediocre. He just spread himself a little thin: Prefuse 73, Piano Overlord, Delarosa & Asora, Savath & Savalas, etc. I reckon the dude has 1 maybe 2 good albums in there. Pity he didn't have a good enough filter.

    wonky

Speaking of, with all of this instrumental hiphop/wonky bubbling up, it seems like he is on point for a come back. His new album just didn't do it but Extinguished: Outtakes and everything else before it was dope. His track with Mikah9 is still one of my all time favs.

Bragging rights - heroic events of immense kudos achieved before you lost your edge

When I was 15 I got my neck cut open at a Cramps gig by some girl with barbwire for bracelets.

The Postal Service were pretty bad (although I remember liking the original of this song) but they never deserved this: <param name="allowscriptaccess"...
