    Funky/London/UK House

Big Up datura! I can't D/L off Rinse when I'm flat out with all this drying paint/growing grass that needs watching  (sorry) :D ...not that it'd take much to better the '2007 remix' of Work! Crikey! It goes abit nuts after that 1!!! The tune after Work remix is cold!!! Hats +...

    Funky/London/UK House

For sure! or, failing that... all the same! LOL 192 & above is cool as far as I'm concerned. I don't expect em to be on a par with juno/beatport - economies of scale & all that still apply, to an extent, in the ecommerce world, but I'm not really about payin for 160s with 'encodeing settings -...

    Funky/London/UK House

yh, I'm waitin for an email back from em... I was gonna say in that post... 2 of the 4 were 160s (& one has a massive skip) :slanted: & 1 I still can't D/L, gettin some error like I've already D/L'd it... I'm glad people are gettin onit tho, I have a mate in London who can get into uptown for...

New Trends using Old Ideas - moving forward?

Well MAW is obv. a massive influence (looms large over all House music doesn't it) but I don't see how early (emo) grime needs to be discounted in favour of other things that are also at work. It is possible to like / be influenced by both. I also don't see the point in trying to reduce...

New Trends using Old Ideas - moving forward?

funky is a classic example of moving forward by going back. Grime thru up so many un(der)explored tangents that its inevitable & totally necessary to go back, find those leads & (to an extent) start over. Not so much going over old ground as unfinished business.

    Dogma 08 (for djs)

Get in the spirit Ben! I support this, but only if it means building public piles of chrome & neon club fixtures held together by the melted remains of 'big room' & 'peak time' house records!

What are the cliches of Ableton Live?

Totally. I'm not gonna pretend I havn't been guilty of this in the past, compare the mixes in my sig. the 1st one goes from 130 down to 126(ish) then up to 143(ish) - its taken awhile to get to the point where I'm happy with it (changing tempos gradually) but its so easy to link a knob to tempo...

    Dogma 08 (for djs)

Well, I don't mean it in a "thou shall learn from my impenetrable well of knowledge" Its a dialectic relationship. The learning goes both way, alot of DJs I've met have as much to learn from the crowd as the other way round. Learning new things is fun & exciting. Taking part in an ongoing...

What are the cliches of Ableton Live?

Oh for sure, & I don't think for a moment people weren't saying it about electric guitars, or multi-track tape machines ('too overdubby') once upon a time! Pretty much. Like a cross between a delay line & a sampler. Insert it & it sounds basically like a quantized cd skipping. It can be used...

    Dogma 08 (for djs)

Kind of defeats the purpose of a DJ bein educator / proliferator of musics, new & old. I think; i.e No doing the same blends / re-creating your fav. DJ/Blogs tracklists in the club. Agree with points 2, 3 & 4* *In the club, mixtapes should include chopped up samples / drops etc. from a...

What are the cliches of Ableton Live?

Beat Repeat! Aaarrrgggghhhh!!! I think the delay stuff you are talking about in Bodzin, Boratto etc. is just a product of easy / OTT automation in DAWs, not somuch a specific plug or app. Back in the day you could only automate mutes, volume, maybe pan if you were proper posh. Now you can...

    Beards - are they evil?

This! I did away with mine this time last year..... it was bloody awfull! Made me look like every generic Australian ever! Some of my friends did a 'call me when its back' kind of move. The Romans weren't keen on em re: the "sign of cultural/civilisational 'advancement'" angle, which to my...

    Vocal Production Techniques/Appreciation

I've been buggin out over the vocal edits in 'Road Mixes' of Soca tunes of late, espesh from the Razorshop camp. Nothing overly 'new' or radical goin on, just quality, musical use of choppage, amp/ring mod, timestretching, reverse, pitch abuse (antares related and otherwise) etc. etc. Pressure...

    Funky/London/UK House

Climate Change EP !!!!!!! So SICK!!!! . What is wrong with Bongo Jam?!? Really? Its like the perfect blend of deep & cheese, to me, YMMV of course. Sure its not gonna win any prizes for literary genius, but the 'yelps' in the background, the awkward 'percussion set falling down some stairs'...

    Rick James

On tour witha metal band, like 10 lads + kit ina 'family mover' driving ina straightline for hours on end, well into the 2nd carton of the morning  all huge fans of chapelle... "Who is Rick James?" cries the lead singer!!! :o ... last tour I went on.

    Funky/London/UK House

Bang On! Made me chuckle that. I wonder if that crew are aware of / what they make of the whole Dancemania / Underground Construction axis... I imagine em tryna tell off a load of Chicago natives 'thats not propa house!' Marshell Jeffersons mates all told him that 'Move Your Body' weren't REAL...
