    The Screwed & Chopped thread

i'm curious to see where music from the Alabama crew (Blockbeaterz, Jackie Chain, etc.) will take the music... i haven't heard any proper full on screwed and chopped tracks from them, but the way in which some of the techniques are being thrown into their productions is sounding quite fresh to...

that woebot mix is great. any other mixes people can recommend along similar lines? especially on the ambient-ish tip.

    African house

well the beat is pretty boring, but that DJ Cleo tune Ruthless is all kinds of synth crazy, huh? even if i'm coming into it late, wealth is wealth... so thanks for uploading all those tracks.

dunno the track, but it's a cut up of an old tribe called quest song called Footprints (dunno where the lick originates) pretty badass.

is it possible to keep up with this stuff semi-regularly? where should i be looking to hear new tracks?

    Vancouver: July 10: Move D/Jonah Sharp/Hataken/Meshee/AOB Soundsystem

looks nice. i will do my bestest to be there. wrangling a (quasi-hipster) posse is like herding cats in this goddam town, but a guy can dream. any concrete long-arc plans for the night to speak of at this stage?

    school me on deep house

any good places to start with Theo Parrish or Moodymann? i've been sifting through Sound Sculptures the last few days, but maybe i should be trying out some of the singles first?

not really forthcoming tho, right? last i heard it was maybe coming out as a white label... belaboured only because i can't seem to shake this song at all... happily, it keeps popping up in mixes so i must not be the only one...

    Funky/London/UK House

not a big fan of Wonderful Day. the production is nice enough, but the vocal is just kind of repetitive imo... can't stand the line about hopping "on the train or bus"... it sounds really dorky and vague to me... and i do my best not to pay attention to these things, i swear to god. my fave...

a propos of file under i don't know what. wouldn't want to let Braiden's FACT mix (52) slip by without notice.

non-love for Love Lockdown and the Funky cover version. but yeah otherwise this fantastic 4 podcast is pretty nice. good to hear Malice drop Skanker, as i hadn't heard it in a while. do mixes of his ever pop up elsewhere?

finally got a proper id on Sugar Coated Lover, thanks to Dusk and Blackdown's May rinse set... in hindsight i can hear how it sounds like Geiom, but i guess i wouldn't of had him pegged for producing such an insanely gorgeous smooth vocal tune. Marita sounds fabulous. good scene, that.

particularly great oneman/brackles set from the 21st up on the rinse blog now. i'm wondering if someone can id a tune for me... pretty sure i've heard it in a ruffage set before... around the 36 min mark... r & b vocal business: "i've been/searching/for you/so glad/that i've/found you..."...

    What is Deleuze?

i second faustus' suggestion. Kafka: Toward a Minor Literature is a good place to start. as some kind of theoretical backdrop, it's been helpful to me for quite a while now. i've been wrestling with Mille Plateaux for a few years now... the first chapter seems to be fundamental to the model...

    Dubstep

i caught Kode in Van at the beginning of his North American tour, which started shortly after (i'm thinking a week, maybe a bit more) the FWD with him an' Flying Lotus, et. al. he played a fair amount of stuff that i did recognize (two Grievous tunes, In the Morning and other funky cuts, maybe...

i'm wondering if the Silkie tune early in that Joker Purple Sour mix (from around christmas) will be on the album. i think there it was listed as 7-1, but maybe it goes by other names?

    Dubstep

on wub, i'd comp for Hoods Up by TRG and Worms by Clouds... Sukh Knight's Jinglist is pretty simple, but it seems to swing just right somehow... edit: radio 'ness: i'm hoping/guessing that audio from the latest Blackdown and Dusk set is yet forthcoming (as opposed to not)? in the mean time...
