    Vinyl bass?

In my experience bit depth makes more of a difference than sampling rate, but I suppose they took that into account. But anyway, just because it's not easy to do memory based comparisons in blind tests doesn't mean that there isn't a qualitative difference there. Those tests assume that if it...

    Where have the UFOs gone?

Radar tracked high-speed unidentified objects over Texas and heading towards the Bush ranch in January. Many eye witnesses too. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=""></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src=""...

    Vinyl bass?

Yes generally, maybe even 40hz in many cases. The main reason simply being that most systems just aren't capable of reproducing those frequencies with any power so it's a big waste of headroom. It's not a hard and fast rule though and obviously bass heavy music would generally allow for a bit...

Pointless But It Does My Head In

Apparently this is a popular topic with Flash developers. http://www.2flashgames.com/f/f-Toilet-Etiquette-4848.htm http://nothingtoxic.com/media/1149074515/Choose_the_Right_Urinal

It's very simple once you've done it once, just sounds complicated. Still a bit tedious though.

    CD capacity paradox

Data CDs use more redundancy / error checking because they have to be absolutely accurate. It doesn't matter so much with audio if you have a few errors when reading back the data. BTW - if you do need to get the raw files on a CD you could try FLACing them. http://flac.sourceforge.net/

The Death Penalty – What’s All the Fuzz About?

Even though in many cases they are likely to be jam sandwiches themselves?

The Death Penalty – What’s All the Fuzz About?

Or what if they are mind controlled drones used to carry out an execution? There may well be no obvious mitigating circumstances but can we really say that people are naturally psychotic killers unless dissuaded by the possibility of the death penalty? Or of those people that are homicidal...

The Death Penalty – What’s All the Fuzz About?

Is there anything in the news about the jam sandwiches?

Or maybe the DJs just weren't playing the right stuff for the hour and the place?

One thing I do here is look at the calculated BPM at 33 and that should tell you quite accurately the tempo of the track. Enter that into the main tempo at the top of the screen and things should fall into place.

Are you playing around with the stretch mode zhao? 'Complex' works best for non electronic stuff - has improved a lot from the early days in terms of sound quality anyway. I'm still on 5 - going to 7 soon. One thing about warp markers - you usually have to put them in every 16 or 32 bars or so...

    cycling to work in London

Good points. Also pedestrians crossing without looking. You learn to spot legs moving behind parked cars. Don't expect anyone else to have any sense at all.

    Photek.

Then I can say something dorky about Photek. If you listen closely to some of the Form & Function era tracks, there's a surprising amount of 'studio buzz' on them.

    That's because it's impossible to tell. ;)

    cycling to work in London

It's quite life affirming. NDEs are like that. I used to do Kentish Town to TCR which is easy but one day had close call on Gower Street so stopped for ages. Later it was Chalk Farm to Elephant - that's a lot of fun. Aldwych and Vauxhall are just mental. :)

    Nin DS2

Nintendo DS2 doesn't exist does it? I think it's just a rumour at the moment. There's some good music stuff around for the DS. The Korg DS-10 cart looks very nice. http://createdigitalmusic.com/2008/03/12/korg-stylus-controlled-tablet-synth-for-nintendo-ds-ds-10/
