Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

The Hellstrom Chronicle - bonkers 70s eco-insect-world-domination-paranoia 'documentary' hosted by fictitious 'scientist' intoning about the awesome power of insects with much footage of termites, bees, ants at war with each other and organising their societies all in the name of proving that we...

    Neo-Noir Films

I second LA Confidential - amazing film. The Man Who Wasn't There - Coen Bros, big favourite of mine.

    Flame Out compilation/mix

Glad you like it. Just messing around in a cut'n'paste style 'cause I no longer have twin decks but, you know, it keeps me off the streets. MrSloane, sorry, no Take That, but hang on in there, it's eclectic, so you might find something you like.

    what are you reading now?

BM is great...that Old Testament language and the description the the tribe, their adornments etc. Haven't read CM for ages, but The Road was fantastic, so if you've seen the film but not read the book, do so. I thought the film was rather boring. No Country, the book, is absolutely brilliant...

    Resonance tonight : Burroughs special

Yes, his delivery is perfect. He has great comic timing. It makes sense since some of his early pieces were first spoken as comic routines with friends. Re 'Shadows', it's an experiment that I'm only partly satisfied with but after working on it for so long I had to leave the damned thing. It...

    Resonance tonight : Burroughs special

No need for the 'oops' - how would you know? ;) First time on radio. I don't think I embarrassed myself. So much to discuss around and about Bill, so we inevitably ran out of time. One thing I'd say to newcomers, listening to his readings is a great way to get a feel for what he's about...

    Resonance tonight : Burroughs special

Pleasure to meet yer Mr Sloane. Weird, not knowing this is you. Then you said who you were. And you then knew who I was. And now we both know who we are. Here, and in the real world. Mr Bradley/Mr Martin

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

Scores high on style but I don't think it's the masterpiece many claim it to be. Rewatched 'Goodfellas' the other day and whilst it's undeniably good, after a while I tired of the constant jukebox soundtrack...way overdone...as is most of the acting...and I could see more clearly why it's...

    what you currently enjoying ?

Not having a big writing project on the go...which frees me up to spend hours surfing, listening to music, watching films...until I get bored with that and start another project...

    what are you reading now?

Charles Willeford's 'High Priest of California' - f*ckin' brilliant.

    Demdike Stare

From what I've seen of them live I can't imagine much dancing going on...unless they sold out and added big beats to all their 'ambient' material...
