http://pitchfork.com/features/articles/6409-the-month-in-grime-dubstep/ ""If black youngers are dancing to funky house in Tottenham, something going on." The summer of 2006 might just be the season Matt Mason’s prediction comes true."

    Tense Nervous House Music

I just noticed that at the time I did this mix and posted this thread - May 05 - was maybe a year before UK funky started bubbling up from the edge of grime. IIRC anyway. Interesting. I've done a mix for Bristol's brilliant Crazy Legs club that's based on garage and UK funky alongside some of...

Every tune I make, in the back of mind I'm thinking, "Would OneMan play this?"

More sweet female vocals over skippy bounce please. The testosteronic dullness can fuck off.

I think Marcus Nasty's sets have got much better over the last 6 weeks or so.

    Gordon Brown gets FLAMED

Labour could still win the next election, or rather, the Tories can still lose it. But they can't win with Brown. Quite apart from my intense personal dislike of the backstabbing, selfish, UNELECTED coward (who voted for him to be PM again?), I think he's damaged goods in the electorate's mind...

I took half an hour last night to dip into it, I need to spend a full night reading it / listening to it all properly!

    Funky/London/UK House

It's got lots of great bits in it, many of which I'm sure are just 2-3 minute sketches off cd, which is cool in itself. There's not quite the momentum of a marcus nasty set (who has improved hugely over the last six weeks or so) but fascinating ideas. I'm itching to make a new funky beat...

Lightning is a great record, I mixed it with electro-y and techy dubstep and it worked really well. I suppose they are sort of different genres, but they work much better when you mix between them - halfstep to wonky to grime to wobble to r'n'b to grime to dubstep. When you do it right the...

No Sunshine I think this is the final version - I took this into a commercial studio to polish it off. Sounds great, just a bit too heavy. www.grievousangel.net/GADubz/NoSunshineReEdit.mp3

Oh yeah. For real. I mean I love that tune, he's my favourite modern male singer, but there's so much to be done with the combo of sweet with hard / sour. Fuck. I know so little. Didn't know rustie did that. Sounds awesome. Blackdown calls it my post-timbaland tune, which is a huge compliment.

Yeah Harpy. It's a bit of a tune though I say so myself! Challenging but heavy and some nice bits to it. On the flipside of Soundclash. Works great with Hollybrook park, bruza's doin' me, bigshot's glitch, solid state, defocused, gutter music etc so it's fairly well roadtested as a mix tool...

Bloodclaat Gangsta Youth 'kill or be killed'- the mp3

It's fantastic. But is rave for communism even better? Certainly, it's one of the two or three greatest achievements of western civilisation.

I'm not sure. The first lot of TPs were no good at all. I'm chasing the distributor but I don't have a date yet, sorry.

There's a forum called Events Mixes and Releases. Best to put specifically promotional posts in there. It's OK to discuss your own releases as long as, y'know, you're not taking the piss and spamming everyone.
