    Dubstep

i kinda get what you mean with planet mu, to me they have this sorta consolidated, chunky sound/aesthetic, and a certain hi-fidelity distortion/ruffness to all their stuff, not so much the reissues like terror danjah/remarc obviously cos thyre made elsewhere. however im still into what they do...

    Dark/Atmospheric Music

Lurker of Chalice are pretty good, side project of the guy from Leviathan (American Black Metal Solo project), not all soundscapes some more songey bits but all pretty dark and ambient. maybe a bit surreal, but The Residents - Eskimo is pretty good also.... icey soundscapes and weird grunts...

    Dubstep

United Vibes are incredible, really underrated, i agree its like a parralel dubstep evolution where it went straight from the early stuff to the wonky stuff... which is both of the best stuff

    Hip Hop 09?

not sure if this deserves its own thread, but can anyone suggest any Three 6 Mafia stuff to look into (however old)? or anything that seems seminal / the beginning of this really minimal southern rap sound (cash money records perhaps?) or crunk... i know DJ Screw but maybe thats different, i...

    La Gaga

no, was thinking the epic 9 minute or somthing Paparazzi video, where shes dancing in crutches and a neck brace... also, i dont know if this is now just the common thing in pop videos, but anyone else notice the massive product placement in her videos? i mean huge foregrounded bottle of martini...

    La Gaga

her new video really reminded me of marilyn manson more then antyhing else, especially "the Dope Show" and all his glammy stuff. then i checked out that the director, Jonas Ackerlund, used to be in proto balck metal band Bathory.

    Juke

makes me wonder if blocking the youtube videos is some sort of first stage in him either consolidating or rejecting his footwerk stuff (like someone mentioned upthread his hip hop rnb stuff getting signed). hopefully the former, so this sees some sort of release... im trying desperatly to get...

    Producer Talk

thanks for the feedback, i guess the main influence is probably the more bright overloaded synthy stuff (anything on hyperdub, joker zomby darkstar kode9 etc) and some of the darker crackly abstract stuff (burial obviously, shackleton). not that my stuffs anywhere near that yet but thats what i...

    Dubstep

Fair enough, i cant expect you to care what an arpeggiattor is, given that it is quite a geeky muscian piece of information (see Vangelis). however, if your making an in depth analysis of Zomby and his new ep, including all manner of complex musical theory (which probably 95% of people dont...

    Dubstep

while i enjoy reading RF's analysis of wonky and Zomby's music, i do feel that someone needs to go "ITS AN ARPEGGIATTOR!" in reference to all this "subtle changes of metre and tempo" talk. the other thing zomby does a lot, which i guess is a reference to niche bassline, is to swing the beat for...
