    Beds..!

I've also bought a bed and memory form mattress from Warren Evans and it's fantabulous in the comfort stakes... can get a bit warm but as I sleep in a loft conversion that may be a plus for the winter... I sleep like a log most of the time but I've been waking up all refreshed and my post-sleep...

    RIP Frank Sidebottom

I've watched in sadness as no one has replied to this thread so here I am. It's a real shame that he's gone and that he kind of faded - nationally at least - into semi-obscurity. His stuff was mad, funny and suitably irreverent. I'll miss knowing he's around anyway. :(

    Ramleh (90s version with guitars)

John - I've picked up the S.P.I.T.E. LP which appears to be a pre-Ramleh Gary Mundy power electronics solo LP - not as good as the Ramleh PE stuff to be honest... I believe the PE version of Ramleh is gigging in August - I wonder if that means the Awake! CD boxset is finally due to be out...

    CD Repairs

Has anyone had any experience of those CD repair services that purport to remove scratches from the surface of a CD or DVD by skimming a few microns of plastic off the playing side? I have a fairly rare CD that has been damaged in the post and I'm considering using someone like...

    Ramleh (90s version with guitars)

Just got copies of the 'Hole in the Heart' 2CD re-issue and the new PE 'Valediction' CD. The 'Hole in the Heart' is pretty good - sits between the PE and the psych-style and near to the 'Grudge for Life' LP. Very strange sound - drones and synth/guitar noise with stacks of reverb and suitably...

    Ramleh (90s version with guitars)

:D indeed... I think I might have that interview with ADF, but I'll have a look over the weekend... PM me your address and I'll stick The Wire in the post pronto...

    Ramleh (90s version with guitars)

Yes, I've just turned forty (!) this year... Had a listen to 'Homeless' recently and although it wasn't quite as good as I remembered (what is) there was a pretty excellent guitar workout called 'Fagenders' I really enjoyed... I still have the Ramleh feature from The Wire if you haven't...

    Ramleh (90s version with guitars)

No worries - it all makes sense... Without wanting to sound like a stalker I was also into Marillion in the Fish days and was also at the Milton Keynes Garden Party... Jethro Tull were surprisingly good I thought and like you I also hated Gary Moore... Mama's Boys were an irish(?) hard rock...

    Ramleh (90s version with guitars)

John, I was at the Northampton Festival as well! Skullflower and Ramleh played with Headbutt, Splintered and a few others if memory serves. Ramleh were the stars of the show. Skullflower were never the same without Stefan Jaworzyn and this gig was after he'd left... As for the Ramleh stuff...

    BNP on Question Time

So do I! Maybe it's not such a surprise that the BNP is 'popular' considering the fact that Mark Collett's parents live in Charnwood. I think his mother stood in the last council election. If they can't raise some cronies in the party here then they are screwed... It does mean I get their...

    Dark/Atmospheric Music

Some dark ambient to get you started: Lustmord -> The Place where the Dark Stars Hang, Stalker (with Robert Rich), The Monstrous Soul, Heresy Inade -> Burning Flesh, The Incarnation Of The Solar Architects, Aldebaran Herbst9 -> From A Dark Chasm Below, Buried Under Time and Sand

    Favourite (official) Kraftwerk Studio Album

Voted for the last one as that's the one I play the most... I have a confession though - I've never heard the first three... I have been thinking of buying the CD bootlegs on Crown or Germanofon - any clues on which has the best sound quality or weather I should just stump up the cash for the...

    Industrial Music

Fascinating thread - I've recently been filling some gaps in my collection and can go with most of the recommendations here. A few points crossed my mind as I read it: 1) One interesting thing about a number of the decent groups here is that they can be quite electic. A lot of these groups have...

    Spooky Music

How about some dark ambient: Lustmord - most/any but especially 'The Monstrous Soul' CD Inade - 'Burning Flesh' CD Herbst9 - 'From a Dark Chasm Below' CD Plus an all-time favourite made from black box recordings, especially good for long flights... Propergol - 'Ground Proximity Warning...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

Great film. On a similarly bleak Russian WWII theme I'd recommend this: http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0075404/ Soon to be released by Criterion as well: http://www.criterion.com/asp/boxed_set.asp?id=2001100 It isn't as graphic but it is still pretty grim...

Serial - New Releases - Indianhead & Autarky

Hi All, The super-rare (in the sense that the original label owner must still be sitting on 90% of the first pressing) debut CD from Indianhead, 'The Gun Speaks' is now available in a numbered, limited 10th anniversary edition with a free t-shirt. Originally released in 1997 is it a...

    Irredeemably naff music

80's neo-progressive: Pendragon: Marillion: Pallas: Twelfth Night: I can't see this lot ending up on any hipster lists in the next few years, but perhaps the revival starts now?
