"Got any ID?" Stricter age restrictions and dance music.

I was more talking about their popularity, but fair point. Is the general consensus that radio and mixtapes are more important than clubs in influencing the next generation of beat makers anyway? What I've found is that mixes often only represent the sound so far, and it's far to easy to avoid...

"Got any ID?" Stricter age restrictions and dance music.

Reading Club Cultures and it mentions 'rarely enforced' age restrictions in clubs in the UK. No one would saybthis now. I didn't get asked for ID at plastic people when I was 17 but earlier this year I went and even my 28 year old sister got asked. Has this an effect sonically? 15 year old...

    Cliches of Music Journalism

Giving everything 3.5/5. Worse than sounds like x mixed with y, or x on acid is a terrible metaphor to say the same thing. I once read that the producer had 'spilt the blood of Julio bashmore and summoned the spirit of akufen'. Really.

Everyone's a DJ (MC) These days?

Was in Topshop today with my mrs and they had a "DJ" with CDJs downstairs, and being piped round the shop, mixing rnb/major lazor badly and checking his phone. Better than in Republic with the DJ playing Disclosure again on CDJs but with his own PA, the store speakers continued to play the...

    Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

EZ is an institution. Pure Garage CDs pretty much got me into music when I was a kid. Cool that they chose Hatcha to do the dubstep version probably the nearest equivalent.

    NOMS FOR NOUGHTIES NUUM POLL?

50 tunes is a lot! Top tens would be better from my perspective. Also, I like the reclassifying of night as a bassline tune.

How has burial dated for you?

How has Burial dated for you? 6 years since his debut and 5 since untrue how do people reckon they have held up? I still love a few tracks but I don't really hold them in as high regard as I used too. I assumed at the time that years on that they would still sound fresh in a similar fashion...

    Sadar Bahar

Just come across this guy and he seems to be relatively unknown in the UK - but I've been hammering his mixes. He's playing in Manchester soon too, which sounds good to me - has anyone seen him before or been to The Roundhouse for something similar? Looks like either an awesome or terrible...

RSD - Accepted isn't really rowdy at all, what would your 3 for a list in that vein be? Off the top of my head; Emalkay - Fabrication Instra:mental - No Future (Skream Remix) Fullness- Butterfish (Marlow Remix)

    Dubstep

Nice. I think it is important if you are going to make genre music that you have your own sound and express yourself rather than just re-appropriating others ideas though.

Clips for the new Theo and Moody here; http://fitdetroit.com/ The theo tracks are in a similar vein to STFU but with a computer game samples which i'm a disappointed by, will have to check the full piece (Fits samples are never long enough), but his more melodic pieces always hit me hardest...

    House / Techno 2012

In stark opposition from the popular belief that all house music from the post hyph mngo diaspora is shite, these two come along; I'm sure someone will indeed let me know these two are indeed shite too.
