I think that kinda illustrates my point about Rusko being seperate to even the bulk of the Wobble crowd now - getting booked at stuff like YoYo, his tunes getting picked up on by the wider west london mafia (Switch, Herve, Annie Mac etc) and people like Diplo and ATrak - he's become the irony...

True story - to the hipster crowd wobble is indistinguishable from big room Ram/Playaz style dnb which is generally sneered at as chav scum music.. Tbh i think Rusko's a bit of an anomaly within even the wobble subdivision - the Annie Mac/Switch patronage and ott photo shoot's are pretty far...

Dunno about the FWD things but think there's a Gemmy-Joker-Starkey night booked at Corsica for April?..

New diplo mix and Pitchfork interview

To be fair to Buraka they've always been pretty open about Kudoru being their starting point rather than their complete sound. Not a fan of their 'progressive kudoru' tag at all, but they're at least honest about their sound not being 'authentic'.

New diplo mix and Pitchfork interview

Hmm - saw that guardian piece and had similar thoughts on the humility aspect.. To be fair, what he was doing seemed pretty exciting say 04 to 06 but the whoel thing descended into streetwear marketting tool mediocrity pretty quick. His remix of Still Tippin' holds up pretty great tho.. On a...

That reminds me, did the N.A.S.T.Y. Crew mixtape with Girls Love N.A.S.T.Y. on it ever get released?

Agreed - much as i usually fucking hate this sort of mockney bollocks I'll gladly take it over another sportsbar electro beat

This cannot download fast enough - don't think I've heard a thing from Sharkey since that Mac 10 rinse set from end of 2006'ish

    Dubstep

This was what got really dull about DSF really quickly - each side seemed so inflexible that the idea of being into different styles seemed utterly incomprehensible to some people on there. Which isn't exactly a great way of pushing the music forward..

    what you currently enjoying ?

Nice one Zhao - very much appreciated knowledge. Was over there for the first time last year and managed to check out a couple of the hole in the wall places (including a great one in between Djema El Fna and the Saadian Tombs/El Badi part of town) but didn't have time to dig around properly...

Agree with a lot of what's been said re; where the community had changed for the worst, but in my persistent lurking/sporadic posting there i never saw much of this aggressive ignorance stance that a few people have mentioned. If anything there was something of the reverse problem, in that an...

Starkey finished his last Fabric set with this to general incredulity. Vinyl can't some soon enough.

PRS from Kiss is pretty minmal due to the regional thing - R1 specialist shows is where the PRS money is

    Early Boards of Canada

Speaking as a lapsed obsessive, if i remember right there was a (brief) period where they had a couple of 30 second clips of stuff from Play By Numbers tracks on one of their old webpages - very guitar based/MBV style from what I recall

    Guns N Roses 2

Listened to it daily since Uptown got it in and still not sure. Probably a victim of it's own hype, but still some wicked stuff here - F'in Rhythm is def the stand out for me. Personally I'd like to see a Ruff Sqwad equivalent of 2nd Phaze; a decent CD round up of all the big 12's

    Great recent r&b gems

I Don't Get Down Like That tops it imo - sounds like a very Just Blaze-y beat

    p-Funk Books

I'd expext that to be pretty great based on bass culture and the fact that the writer was part of the whole p funk ensemble in the late 70's (if i remember right he's on backing vocals on the uncle jam wants you lp).
