    Tim Westwood-wood-wood-woooood....

I'm sure you've all heard the news by now. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2013/jul/26/radio-1-tim-westwood-leave-bbc Obviously nothing lasts forever, but it's still disappointing to see him go. I'll miss his excessive audio bomb drops and "Hot minute!" patter. He's delivered cracking...

    Grime 2013

lol, sorry. Sox is so shit. He's the worst MC in grime actually trying. The only reason he's doing anything is because Jammer is his manager.

The music journalism hall of shame thread

http://www.dummymag.com/features/2013/07/02/essay-meanwhile-in-the-uk-s-dance-underground/ Thanks to Slackk for pointing this one out. Just opening paragraph alone is enough to knot my stomach.

RawZilla is the best thing in grime 2013.

    Dubstep

Has anybody checked out Youngsta recently? Just slapped on his rinse show for the first time in maybe 8 - 12 months and it's just as dark as it ever was but a lot more... fun.

    a dissensus night (in london?)

Yh it did happen. Danny got absolutely wasted and interrupted Blackdown and Renyolds before they even managed to talk about the authenticity of UK producers making Juke. Continuum played bassline through Dannys slurrs on the mic about how fit the 2 women that turned up were. Then the owner told...

Comin in with the mix and blend

The last part of this: http://www.xlr8r.com/features/2011/05/full-house-jackmaster-oneman-and really touches on what you're saying. I've always thought that you're probably in a better position to play a better set if you're not a producer, because you don't have the pressures to play tracks...

ELFKID, not a very "grime" name. Sick though.

    2013 > 013 > 130

That's what I was hoping for. Given that in previous interviews he talked about never being happy with anything he made after "Root/Goat Stare" it seems odd to put out what sounds like a remake of "Mud".

REAL TRAP (/ TRVP) SHIT (SHITE?) 2013

Let's not forget that's a skill in itself, to run through and connect so many different styles in a coherent and pleasing manner. Someone said that it's similar to what he was doing with funky, that it was one way or "leeching". He ended up putting out a fair amount of Funky, or at least Funky...

REAL TRAP (/ TRVP) SHIT (SHITE?) 2013

I was going to, but couldn't find an aggressive enough footsie grime instrumental to contrast it to. I know for a fact that J Beatz has made some brilliant trap stuff but hasn't released any of it or put it on his soundcloud. Also does every thread in the dissensus music section have to mention...

REAL TRAP (/ TRVP) SHIT (SHITE?) 2013

I'm really enjoying some of the UK stuff that fits into the first category. Grime producers take on it seems a lot less offensive to the ears than the internet hype stuff ,which is interesting considering the sort of sounds that those producers are normally using in their grime productions...

    2013 > 013 > 130

After having to sit through most of Saturdays (02/03/13) Boilerroom from New York, as my girlfriend was waiting for Nicolas Jaar to come on, I find myself appreciating the need to preserve this "UK" sound. While some might say that the harking back / ripping off / re-hashing of 2006 Dubstep...
