GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

No one has given up on it. I don't want major labels to back grime. I want some grass roots investment and some decent vocal producers to cultivate the creativity into some better end product. Major labels throwing money into a hole has never done any genre of music any good. And seeing as in...

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Slowly but surely, authentic channels are opening up through which people who actually have some comprehension and appreciation of the scene are being used to filter through new talent, rather than fucking PR machines to sell the newest shitty gimmick cashing in on the cache of grime. But...

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

I dunno who you listen to these days. But in 2004 a bunch of tunes that sound like pulse x knock offs never really was that inspiring to me. The DJs I listen to usually play very good beats. I like to think I don't play anything which is pants in my instrumental sets. BAAAAUUUUUMMMM

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

lol Behave. Half the tunes of that era were made on Playstations and a mix down may as well have been a foreign language. The other half were made by producers who went onto leave and make dubstep/other genres like Oris Jay, Narrows, Zinc or Zed Bias. Producers continue to come through to...

What is 'street' in relation to music?

No one could EVER say those things on RWD forums without getting shit on from a GREAT height. Lily Allen? Hadouken? Behave.

What is 'street' in relation to music?

Something which always interests me is the international link between "black" music, which often is stronger than the link between localised music genres from different social groups. The strong link between Grime artists and the inspiration from Hip Hop and Dancehall, as opposed to being...

What is 'street' in relation to music?

Therefor surely "street" would be an entirely fluid description based on each individuals personal 'trigger' signals they notice. I am sure that someone from a suburban comfortable area who is not all too interested in the 'street' culture would consider certain people to be street, whilst...

What is 'street' in relation to music?

The origins of Grime are in no way, shape or form Black. They are from London. And last time I looked, London was a thriving multi-cultural, non-segregated place to live. People rhyming on a beat? Yeh, that means it HAS to be black music. And I'd appreciate if people who actually have no...

What is 'street' in relation to music?

Blackdown, I have to retract that statement then. Props to 1xtra for getting Edu in. They could still do with a Jazz show though. And I double dog dare anyone to tell me I play Black music.

What is 'street' in relation to music?

Music derived from working class urban areas in the UK which are not racially segregated I would call music from the street. You couldnt call Grime or Dubstep black music for example due to the culture surrounding them. 'Street' appears to simply be a more authentic version of "Urban", whilst...

Now when they decide to put them up on their site is down to them, but i definitely deliver/sent...

And it's out on Test Press for people who are keen and dedicated RIGHT NOW! Finally got a CD with some of the classic Ruff Sqwad circa De Ja 2004 tunes. Amazing how hard it was to actually find some of these tunes on CD. So it is forming itself nicely now. As and when I have more info...

Plastician's show is great. I really like how he brings a unique sound of Grime and Dubstep which caters to a certain type of audience. He's always done well internationally as a DJ as well by merging the two sounds, so Radio 1 is an excellent platform for it.

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

I'm still disappointed 1xtra don't have a dedicated Grime show yet, especially with the amount of Funky House being played on Cameo's and Target's shows these days (even though Target's is more of an "Urban" show, it is included in their Garage listings still)
