'Ruff Sqwad - Hey' video on Channel U

Guns and Roses is very good. It has at least 5 very good tracks on there. And it's really well manufactured as well, which may be superficial, but it's nice to keep things like that.

"hype hype" picked up by smoove / MOS

Remember that with Pow and Hype Hype, they were only available for sale on vinyl. And most of the listening crowd in London aren't actually DJ's. I thought as well for a moment that maybe everyone in London had had enough of Pow by the time it came out, but it got to number 11 in the national...

    Grime "essentials"

Mack 10 and Jammer turning up every week with half a dozen new Nasty vocals. Mack 10 playin in raves, dropping Dizzee's first first tunes and hem getting air. The version of Eskimo with the 8 bar intro and the swaggest mix down. Slimzee turning up to Sidewinder with VIPs of everyone else's...

    Re-versioning of rhythms in grime

People just sometimes do remixes of their own tunes. the Ghetto Kyote instrumental has been around for ages, and many artists di versions, including Kano. the "remix" was done by FT, who produced Crazy T's Singalong track.

    Kano - Typical Me

Making a tune out of a Deftones tune might seem less than inspired to you, but if you understand the scene, then you would know how different from the norm that is. And for the record, Typical Me is actually "Garage" speed.

    Ephemerality.

My dub of Eskimo vocal featuring Wiley, Flowdan, Jamakabi, Dizzee, Taz and Dom P will never sound like it did the first time I played it, and everytime I want to play it, I do so knowing that each play makes the quality sound worse and worse. And the actual recording of the track has been lost...

    Kano - Typical Me

Out on the 28th of Feb.... Good choice as a first single? Or another example of an artist changing their style to appeal to the mass market? I like it as a piece of music, but don't like the idea of it. Bit of a quandry there. Other thoughts? Check it out on www.ka-no.com

It appears you have little experience of the wonderous enigma which is Wiley's diary. I'd be incredibly impressed if he turned up for it, after landing at Gatwick at 7am this morning from Atlanta.

    Dancehall Fans Against Homophobia

While the basic premise of the outrage! movement is entirely correct, I can't help but feel that it doesn't solely exist to uphold those basic ideas. I know Mr Tatchell was quite vocal in his campaigning to have the age of consent lowered drastically for homosexuals, which i find quite sinister.

Trim mentioned it to me today. I am sure some of the guys will be there to promote the album, but I couldn't possibly say who.

Distribution in North America for grime...

Thanks! You guys have been really helpful. Keep the info coming. I'm just looking to help people get their music released abroad, rather than set up some big world wide record export business. Glad you guys are willing to give help spread the music to the needy ;)

Distribution in North America for grime...

Where would you say the main hubs would be for Grime followers in North America, and are there any stores that you know of that try and push the records out there? I'm trying to help a few people get their records and DVDs into the States and Canada and would find it helpful if you could let me...

'Canonical'-type shit you just don't get

Certain things you need to experience in their natural element to understand them. Speak to someone who actually went raving to it in it's peak during the late 90's and see the look in their eye as they recall what it was like, and you will get an inkling of an idea what it's redeeming features...

The UK has become (almost) irrelevant

Oh, and I have had a West Ham season ticket, I eat pie and mash, I can't dance and I used to listen to Nirvana. I am fully aware of my whiteness, and have never attempted to adopt any other cultures. The day you hear me say "Holla at your boy" with a straight face, is the day you are welcome...
