Worldometer is out of date for the UK. The total at 5pm yesterday was 578, up 115 from 8 hours earlier (as they're changing the times at which they start/end the count), if I've read this correctly. Can that be true, it's crazy if so

I read that too about Germany Now fears that there could soon be a new crisis area in the south of Italy

don't know, but one idea is that until we can see hospitalisation rates versus death rates, then the stats are hard to draw any conclusion from

there is a localisation in Spain after lockdown, but not anywhere like the localisation in Italy. But this may be because Madrid for example is a much smaller area than say, Lombardy, so cases in Castile y Leon and Castile La Mancha may be in areas immediately adjoining Madrid. Either way, there...

Wait for Easter Sunday. The Dutch are still practising herd immunity as a strategy, alleges Vice. Wtf. Unsurprsingly, their death toll per million is already higher than everywhere except Spain and Italy

I can definitely go with that. It's a necessity to save the lives of the most vulnerable - a noble temporary sacrifice

Sure, and I'm sympathetic to that as it is a horrible word - I just think the vague guidance is a continuation of Johnson devolving responsibility to the people rather than taking any himself. See also Sadiq Khan and the tube issue My worry is that weeks after Spain and Italy instituted more...

Huh? Of course not, but there are two days as identified where the rate of increase in deaths seems to slow dramatically, and then escalates considerably the following day (by over 100% in one case)

Just seen an 80 year old sauntering very slowly past my front window. He can do what he likes as far as I'm concerned, but this 'lockdown' is a farce given what we've seen in Spain and Italy

Glad that they've waived hospital car parking charges for NHS staff during a pandemic. After a public petition of course. Capitalism is truly the maddest thing ever

It's definitely gonna happen. I hope that there is a slowing down in fatalities, but unfortunately you simply can't judge the pattern from a single day. See Spain, 13-14 March or 15-16 March https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104640/deaths-as-a-result-of-complications-with-coronavirus-spain/...

    Worst songs you've ever heard?

oh yeah, they were - I thought it was 1992 but no. Too traumatised to understand time. It's all about the horrible vocals more than anything, satan speaking through spin magazine bands fuck i just remembered about dave matthews band. the worst of it was repelled from the uk by an invisible...

    Worst songs you've ever heard?

those complaining about under the bridge (rhcp are unholy, but this is probably their best song) have forgotten about the rest of the early 90s American nightmare invasion that came in the wake of Nirvana. what a time to be alive when this could be played openly without shame
