    Thrive in '95 - Jungle's zenith

Massive smasher in winter 95/96 Funny thing, as a teenager I certainly preferred "Drumz", today, I like the flipside more:

95 was a good year for Reinforced Reinforced had a decent output in 95. However, the plates almost never made it on the DJs Technics. "Experimental" style, but hardly a DJ was brave enough to play 'em. Here is a Reinforced goodie from 95:

For Jump Up u needed silly basslines. I never minded Hip Hop and Funk samples per se

To actually get back to 95 tunes.... 95 was also thre year people used Hip Hop (and Funk) samples more n more - here is an excellent example:

I wonder, how much Techstep was also a reaction to the deluge of coffeetable Jungle/Mo Waxation of Jungle/watered down Jungle-in-TV-Commercials - in other words a yin yang thing, getting back the ruffness...

A lot of good stuff in 95 without a doubt, but not as great as a whole as the other years I listed. One label that got very mediocre in '95 was Subbase. Fell from grace totally after 94

    Thrive in '95 - Jungle's zenith

hmmm 95 imo wasn't that good as 92-94 and then 96. Oh and when we're at it.... Seems everybody has forgotten about the following - late '94 charts hit and was on MTV all the time back in the day.... That said, 95 was the year the Goldie Album failed to meet the expectations on commercial...

    GENESIS: The Dissensus Bible Group.

The reactionary that I am I freely admit that I lover the Bible, or to be precise, parts of it (there are dead boring sections in it, too), but generally, a great book, covers so many timeless aspects of human life. For existance, the Tower of Babel is an awesome allegory for human hubris.

    RIP iTunes

I fell for the I-Pod hype around 2004 when I bought an I-Pod Mini, which was a decdent mp3 player (however the batteries were a bit crappy and it had no fm-radio which I missed back in the day) - however I never bought a single tune from the I-Tunes store. That was also the heydays of mp3 blogs...

    EDM versus Disco

It's not even a contest. Disco produced lots of cheese - and I like cheese - but also a few absolute gems. EDM, on the other hand.... For instance the "Disco"-umbrella made things like the following possible:

    Early 90's Rap City Classics

I was a big Hip Hop fan (admittedly, as a teenager) during the early 90s (91-94), but stopped listening to Hip Hop around 96/97. When I listen to stuff like Gangstarr or Eric B today (which I still occ. do) I don't do it out of nostalgia, I do it due to the sheer quality of the music. Today's...

    Phil Collins vs Peter Gabriel

Peter Gabriel - Shock the Monkey was pretty good, Sledgehammer a great pop-hit with an equally enjoyable video. He also had a few good electronica-esque bits on his early 80s LPs. Phil Collins - I only rate "In the Air tonight" - (which got sampled on an early RAM-Record), apart from that...
